E.g. Green Wood and Stone because you can just go outside the Settlement to grab some more. Gunpowder because you only need a bit to make enough Cartridges.
But longer term all those Cooking Ingredients and Arcana materials will stack up.
Is anyone throwing away more than what they can just easily harvest outside the Settlement in large quantities?

Everything I get is immediately refined and then once a day I’ll go around crafting items. Most items are salvaged but a few are placed on the trading house for 5-10 g.
The bizzaro exception is cooking oil, which is never available on the trading post. I usually just toss it on there as I make it throughout the day.
Arcana ingredients are made into potions. Motes are turned into wisps.
I really only have an issue with storage when I’m juggling several town quests that all want raw materials.
Funny you say that because I just made a huge purge yesterday in 3 town storages. What I did was craft anything I could that I had in storage. I always make sure my storage towns are faction connected so I can share resources.
Next I went thru and took gear I had in storage and just salvaged it cause nothing sells it seems except crafting specialty items like sandpaper and stuff like that anyways. Next I threw away all level 1 and 2 items of every type of resource I had.
This doubled my storage. Fast forward 2 hours later and all my storage is all full again.
TLDR Storage system in this game sucks…
Well other obvious things are anything that sells for 0.01 gold. Like gunpowder, but also small health potions, common focus potions, etc. And super common food items like honey, milk, and moat kinds of meat.
I have never had to toss anything out my whole time playing other than a few stacks of small health potions.
Do you actually quest? There is no way you can refine everything you get immediately. I have 4 towns and houses full of crap cause I farm everything and I craft multiple times daily and still my storage fills up. Auction is full of stuff that won’t sell, I drop dozens of stuff on ground daily and bags are salvage every single piece of gear I get.

What do you mean you can’t refine everything immediately? Teleport into town with almost full pack then hit the smelter, loom, tannery, and stonework.
Fuck woodcutting, though.
