I just finished every Main, Side & Weapon quest. I got all gear and weapons to 600 with some just above that.
My thought was that I would work on improving armor, weapons and gear score to 625 but it is super expensive
Anyone have any ideas on what to do or work on next?

It costs about 700 umbral shards to go from 600 to 617. I leveled up my primary weapons, like the weapons I enjoy using, to around 617 first, and then I upgraded my pvp armor to 617. Once you get to that point, you start getting like +300 shards per gypsum cast, and every few days you can upgrade an item to 625. Maxing out your weapons is important to do maximum damage in PvP and PvE. Maxing out armor/jewelry GS level is LESS important for pvp, but you need to do it for PvE, if you are into that.
By the way, for PvE purposes, not all gear is weighted the same when generating your overall GS. You’d have to look it up, but I think Weapons GS > Chest/legs > Jewlry > other armor pieces, so you get “more bang for your buck” or higher overall GS in this case upgrading your weapons and chest/legs first.
Once you start making umbral shards, you’ll have plenty, and it isn’t that hard to upgrade items.
