What's going on with using the GPU in New World?

See how absurd the use of the GPU in the game’s queue screen is? And that doesn’t change during the game, the trend is beyond high usage, regardless of the video setting in the game, it gets hot and we have serious problems! Does anyone else have the same problem?!

Have to run the game on medium settings. gtx1060 6gRam and 12gRam in my pc. Its a good looking game so I am not going to complain.
The issue for me though is the SOUND. My sound comes out like a helicopter in the distance.

I’m running it on all low on my lovely potato machine.

Iron veins look like that massive dino dropping from the original Jurassic Park, but at least it’s smooth!

98-100% GPU usage on my 1060 3GB. It’s the same on login screen and all graphic settings (including low). And it produces sooooo much heat!
That’s some serious oroblem and it’s well known since beta at least

That is what FPS Caps are for. So that the GPU doesn’t have to flex his muscles to its fullest potential. You could check out this: High GPU usage while in queue? HERE is your solution! [NVIDIA]

I checked my performance on just the que screen, (since reading yours) and my gpu is at 100% usage and temps 77c which is the highest my card has been with any game, at any time. Just crazy.
What worries me most is … I am que much longer then I actually get to play the game.

Y’all got issues apparently. I’m sitting on queue screen with an EVGA 3060ti and it’s running at 53% and 62c.

Agree, when I get off work this evening- I am going to go through some settings, both game and my card (which is upto date) and see what is going on. I will set a profile if that is what it takes.
I do want to throw this out there,
With new mmorpg games I expect some issues - comes with the territory- but this… is hazardous to your hardware and the investment we put into our hobby we call gaming. I just have not seen anything like it.

Keep me posted.

Not saying people don’t have actual issues. But I have rtx 3080 and my temps are around 72c at 60 utilization most of the time.
I keep my fps at 78 (personal preference). Nvidia’s own non aggressive fan settings have the temp set at 83c, so I am well below that. Are you folks sure your case is getting ample air flow, your case filters, or fans are free of dust? Your not gaming in a room the temp of death valley? Just some thoughts.

I have my frames capped at 4fps under my monitor refresh in my GPU settings. Solves all the problems…

How can you play like that? I tried, but had to stop.
I’m going to replace my computer so I can enjoy the game on decent settings.

the issue is that the login and que menu in new world is a fully rendered 3d world… that pegs your video card to 100% … just as if you were in game.

i dont mind my vid card going 100% in game while im running around having fun… but i sure not gonna sit in a 15hr que with it pegged 100% … 3000 series at scalping prices aint cheap ! you can burn your cards up in que if you want but not me. this has been the SAME in alpha and beta… and they have closed their ears to it

GTX 1070
99% GPU
66c Temp (Fan speed 44%)

Changed the Background application cap to 30 FPS for New World in Nvidia settings and now seeing 77% load.

Poor 1070 still having to put work in to get 30FPS in Login queue.

Had 100% use on the GPU until I limited the FPS in-game to 60. Halved the GPU usage. Playing on very high now with GPU load hovering around 60%

30x0 owners saying maybe your case is wrong lol…

Do you see that the min requirement is a gtx670?

If you set the cap to 5fps it still uses 100% gpu on the lowest settings.

It is abnormal!
