GW2 really is not a game to list when it comes to solo content as it is fun packed to the rim with it. For some you need other players, but they cleverly avoided actual need for grouping, you can take part in the countless meta events without having to join a group/raid, and maps scale. Yes, GW2 has been out for years and they are of course ahead in map size and overall content, but even on release, I recall clearly I was busy for ages, and of course you have a class system, so you c/would make alts. Starter dungeons provide specific dungeon currencies, which can buy you unique skins, and the grind for legendaries is actually amazing fun and makes you feel rewarded at the end.
Lotro back in the days provided an insane amount of quests. I know players who bought the item which stops experience gains, and who have taken years to complete every map (lots of achievements), and were still only at level 50 or so. I was stuck down in Moria for weeks when it was released, I was beginning to feel wet and damp in real life, wondering if Middle Earth daylight still existed - that was just Moria, and I played something like 6 hours a day, as said, for weeks >.>
NW just does not offer much to compare with that type of solo content, and one can argue it was simply not created for that, which is totally fair, NW is about pvp at it’s core, but then it’s not helpful to discuss games that simply blow NW out of the water in their pve content, hands down, no debate, those games even at release outshone NW in every pve aspect imaginable.
As for the original post, reading it, I would think you sound done with the pve content, and what’s left is just possibly some pve grinding, maxing all crafting, if that has not happened yet, hunting all possible recipes for furniture and such.
To be fair to NW, I think end game is simply about the settlement mechanics and open world pvp. Players are the content, the forever raging war for control, and to me that would be totally grand, would it not involve boring pve grinds to be able to afford repairs. I would be totally fine with open world pvp as the endgame content, it’s the content I turned to in GW2 playing lots of wvw and in Lotro, loving creepside in the Ettens, but I just can not get into it in NW as I hate that the game forces these rather boring pve grinds on me.
Although this is largely true, other MMOs gives you some reward for solo activities, such as gold or similar. In NW, you get almost nothing, unless you are crafting or gathering. Killing, even level 64 mobs, gives you very few drops and nothing else. It is a completely pointless endevour.
Also, other MMOs, allow you to queue for instances as a solo player. In NW you only have OPR which is probably the most boring PvP instance I have ever played in any MMO. So often, when I log on NW, I check if there are any groups for expeditions or any wars/invasions and if there isn’t, then just log off, as there really isn’t much else to do as a solo player.
Just log on for group content only. It sounds like you’ve exhausted all of your options. U less you can fulfill requests for your guild like getting asmo for them, help them get armor, etc. I don’t think you have much fun content left
Ah, hope it will give you the needed motivation back Studies seem to show that goals are extremely important for happiness
Unfortunately all avenues for me personally have been cut off in New World. Housing would be a good goal for me, could make me want to grind gold and loot and so forth, but with the existing limit, I am already unhappy as I have to decide on 3, left to longingly pass by other houses I’d love to buy as well and decorate. It’s the same for other goals that could bring me motivation. I just seem to run into one road block after the other in New World, which has saddened me. Left to hope the game will grow and unlock goals I’d enjoy to work towards eventually.
There are no group finders here because you need a key → I will take that 1-2.5k per slot for you to join me in the dungeon lol… so dumb… Never have I ever seen a game where a Tank or Healer in which you need to run this dungeon has to pay for fuckin anything… I understand costs and all that but Jesus give me a break.
All classes, including DPS are needed but yes, I have also never seen another MMO where you have to pay for access to the only endgame dungeons in the game. Actually the only content in the game with any sort of challenge. The rest is all Zerg content which takes zero effort.
But this all comes down to the price of Orbs which the playerbase hate but AGS is stubbornly sticking by. Mutations adds another layer of cost to this already shit system.
Sad to say, once you learn the mechanics its super easy… Laz is ridiculously easy after the snake lady.
Honestly if they keep time gating I can’t see me sticking around much longer… I just can’t I have 1200 hours in this game and still not catching up to those in the lead… it sucks terribly.
been 600 for a while now and there is really nothing to do. sure you can get more gold, or better gear piece but having that piece wont make your life that much more interesting or anybody who you play with appreciate your ability to abuse that extra perk any more then they already do with green 25 stat gear.
I tried to do stuff at first but i kinda got stuck in loop where i just do daily chest run and weekly dungeon keys and nothing else at all. If i need azoth or something i rather just buy it then play PvP and see the effort of trying to buy really expensive gear to be stronger then actual players who play PvP with better computer.
Dungeons feel like utter waste of time to do after running genesis multiple times a day for long time and mutations only made them feel more opressive when i played it in PTR. I hope you recover from this addiction and find a new cool game tough
Seems like a lot of people are in the same boat. I’m kinda sad about it cuz I love the heck out of this game. I’ll still play when my company needs me but I guess it’s time to just move on till they throw an expansion or something at this game. Never thought I’d say that.
Take a breather from NW is my recommendation, let it simmer with each new patch / content; then return fresh. Or you could grind the PTR to death and supply tons of feedback to the development team helping shape the future of the game
Since bosses are either unkillable, or not worth killing for solo players. Basically just try to beat the bit to the next resource node or opr… nothing really
I dont understand why AGS cannot implement proper mob scaling. That would both solve the issue of Zergs, consuming open world content like locusts, and soloers being able to finish something when other people are not around.
Sooner or later, I fear most reach this point, and it is a true shame and could have been avoided. The game would have needed 2 more years in development, and a sideway spread in content. I so wanted to make New World my new home. I tend to be extremely loyal to games, I am not someone to just run off to the next new hype, and everything I had researched about New World sounded to me like this could be my new haunt for years to come.
Alas what I found was a fast burn out, and I am not blaming the devs. The game has an ambitious and I find fantastic core, but in the end there seems to have been a rush to make the most sales possible from a starved market. So much QoL is missing from this game, and QoL which other games have managed to turn into sideways content through rewarding an array of sideway activities. New World is up and then nothing, and right now it seems this is the path they continue on.
I am not with those who believe the game is beyond salvation, far from it, but it will need courage now, innovation, and for the game to find a broader vision for its attempt to merge pve and pvp content in a harmonious way. Hopefully they will find that vision, I really would love to return and enjoy New World to the fullest it could offer
