What's with the Gatekeeping?

It’s surprising how many people haven’t played true PvP MMO’s to keep suggesting Albion as a full world PvP MMO…

Are you still here?

Not even sure whether you’re just being a troll or not. Not even sure what you’re advocating for in that regard either. Because apparently it’s not a full PvP server.

If PVP is a big part of the game then it needs to be a big part of the game regardless of server. Even if we say the pvp servers don’t become a unbalanced mess that destroy themselves. They will steal a large group of pvp willing players from every pve server further fracturing the player base into 2 groups. If the pvp servers do actually destroy themselves, then it’s a double lose, you stole good pvp from the pve servers, and stranded pvp players onto a failing server that causes more players to quit then remain.

BTW there is 9 expeditions (pve) and just same map (opr) and 3v3 arenas same map again so you really think this is pvp based game? i dotn think so they show more love to pve players than to pvp players just sayin

Seems AGS hasnt fixed the Azoth Engine completely.

Are we playing the same game? This is a pvp territory control game with some light PvE elements tacked on.

I don’t think anyone is gatekeeping. PVE people wouldn’t care if there was a PvP server…that is just the game developers choice not to support it.

I have not researched this broadly but MMOs with open world PvP that have PVE and PvP servers…PVE servers die last. So I suspect your assumption that PVE servers would die is not likely. Plus, the game developers added buffs to bribe people into flagging for PvP and it helped some but not that much.

The demand just isn’t there else they’d change it. The demand isn’t there because of the gamer culture being very toxic…so when we log in and act like clowns because we think there is no consequence due to anonymity, we’d be wrong. Game designers now have to design games around ensuring the human cancer doesn’t spread within it.

Just an idea - there is murmurs of fresh start servers incoming.

Why don’t y’all start a PvP flag thread where you attract a bunch of like minded people who can all agree to perma-flag, and then y’all start fresh on one of the new servers?

The beautiful thing about this game is that we actually have the tools to make it what we want.

When territory control doesnt matter for an overwhelming majority of your player pop, it aint a territory control game. It’s a pve game with a couple of pvp game modes. Calling this a pvp game tells me youve never played one.

Saying the game is PvE doesn’t make it PvE.

The game’s PvE content is a joke, and can be finished in a week.

And saying the game is a pvp game doesn’t make it one. If you want to know what a pvp focused mmo looks like…go play one. There’s a few currently and none of them are New World. That doesnt mean I don’t enjoy the pvp, but that’s not the focus of this game

I doubt they’d be as popular as you think.

I’m all for them being on the one server though. good riddence

I’ve also seen this in the past… PvP servers actually tend to be much more polite in general because everyone understands that rude characters will be killed. If there was more to the death than repairs that also adds to the care people take when talking their smack…

dude it is years away. Mid-2024 is very optimistic.

Except it literally is New World’s end game. All the PvE content will be cleared, completed, and farmed in your first month of the game.

I’d like to see 1 PVP-always fresh start per region. Sure, why not. I don’t think they would last 6 months, but I also have no issues with letting you have a run of it while you want. Enjoy the game how you like.

I mean the game started at launch w normalized scaling even in open world. faction gear being basically bis mainly due to resilience and running open world dungeons for a mild gear grind.

they’ve habitually added more and more pve over the start of launch this is true because it was severely lacking but what they added is really just variant runs which well not all that mechanically interesting tbh.

but the pvp track and the premier endgame is still in service if PvP. it’s a mix game imo but the traditionalist PvErs who wanted gear over scaling and grind over skill to matter were the last remaining voices and have kept the devs attn.

I imagine that may not change near term but plenty of reason to think it might long term.

even if it doesn’t and this game goes full wow/ff14 w focus on pve I’m cool with it. because both those games it isn’t the hardcore raider that pays the bills its the casual RPers and the monetization of those players means cash shops and boosts.

I’ll just wait till that’s implemented whale my way to bis and farm the salty tears of ppl who spent 2k+ hours farming the same boring dungeon w a slight spreadsheet tweak in a negligible variable.

Never agued differently

Never said they were interesting, but as youve mentioned more pve.

Also never claimed otherwise

I agree. It’s pve focused with pvp. Why everyone takes that as some sort of insult to the game I dunno?

What is the plenty of reasons? Because so far I see plenty of reasons they keep pve focus (since traditionally that’s what brings/keeps players)

Hence why they focused more pve. Not necessarily hardcore raiding, but yeah, thats what pays the bills.

Nothing I said means you cant enjoy/favor pvp. I prefer pvp in this game, but this aint a pvp focused game, otherwise it wouldnt be so damn soft.

yes game is soft for sure, which why I don’t understand the obsession over gear grind mattering in pvp.

either way I’m futzing around on the ptr and looking at hoe they are normalizing crafting to be more precise and less rng.
this is one area that set off the dungeon grinders because if you can buy gear all their hard work is meaningless.

I haven’t played since February but as I understand it they’ve normalized and isolated perk pools based on content type pvp and pve.

these 2 things together suggest to me they are at the very least trying to bring crafting back in line to support pvp wo messing with the pve side which is to mainly earn gear through dungeon spam for both gear and mats required to craft.

gs scaling in opr and possibly arenas suggest to me they are farther looking to refine pvp and pve on their own separate tracks.

as to why the game has more pve focus I would say because most of the core pvp elements are in place whereas pve is severely lacking.

I just did the beginning of the leveling experience it’s still basically the same but just now has a narrative hook to explain why you’re doing those fetch quests.

they still need to add larger group dungeon/raid and ow pve bosses. I haven’t been to brimstone but that worm seem like it may/could be a world boss.

I think they should do all that and once pve is on solid footing work on pvp w a scaled normalized low barrier entry point in all areas including ow and wars. and develop the two tracks side by side
