I hope not and I’m wrong…
There is a definite lack of communication from AGS on all fronts. Looking at the forum threads and the number of genuine issues being raised that are unanswered, there is no wonder players are becoming frustrated and in some cases leaving. Players would be more accepting of the issues if they felt listened to and they thought the issues were in the process of being resolved. This is basic customer service.
They have no plan…there plan was and is…Release an unfinished game like NW…and Push back an ALREADY Finished and established game LIKE Lost Ark. That was there plan and goals…
I don’t know about you but, AGS should have had a 6 month roadmap ready to go with launch, to give people some incentive to continue playing their game after two weeks.
While I don’t think AGS doesn’t have a plan - after all, you don’t get their tier of funding without a viable business and publishing plan - I absolutely agree that they need to rapidly change their communication style.
The publisher being quiet and unresponsive magnifies community’s frustration. There are projects that have been in development for much, much longer - yet their player base is content in waiting for features, bugfixes, and QoL features. Why? Because the developer communicates, keeps the playerbase updated, and treats them as partners, not as an anonymous and meaningless crowd.
I love New World’s foundation, and I recognize it can be a truly great game. I really enjoy playing it even with all its issues. But that won’t last forever.
And finally… if you’re curious what an open and honest communication from the developer to community looks like, check out Star Citizen’s Roadmap and Tracker: Star Citizen Roadmap - RSI
