Does anyone know the exact time a name after deletion becomes available? I went ahead and saved my name and another one for a friend, but I am unsure when to delete my friend’s character so they can be able to use that name.

You just locked your friend out of his name for 90 days i believe. It’s account bound for some time.

I did hear that a streamer was saying that and asking people not take his name. However, I’ve tried to find any credible source and didn’t. I’m unsure to believe someone without any evidence on it from the developers or news articles.
I just made a character on EU with a name, deleted, made a new char with the same name as the first. there was zero wait
someone said it’d either take one minute or 90 days to keep the name, so if it’s for 90 days that would be super cool
One of the devs said it’s approximately a one minute wait once the character has been deleted.

There is actual word from the developers on that. "“According to the developers, you can reserve a character name just by creating a character on any available server. You don’t have to be in-game to do so. Just create a character in New World and input its name. You can delete a character later on. If you delete a character, its name will be available to your account after a small delay of a minute or two.” This does not mention between different accounts it just states that they will have to wait "take some time to be fully available to other accounts after deletion of an account. "

Yea in my case i did it immediately, there wasnt even 30 seconds delay.

This does not state between different accounts which is what I’m trying to figure out. Though, I appreciate this clarification on people’s own user names.
Yep, it’s well understood that after deletion, WE can name another character the same thing, but what people want to know is how long until someone else can use the name? ie: If I delete my EU character, and spend 15m making my new character on different server when it goes live, can someone swoop in and grab the name in the meantime because it was only bound to me for a minute or two, or is it genuinely bound to me for a long time, stopping people from nicking it?

yeah that’s what i’m thinking as well
We’ll have to find out tomorrow. People with some friends can create and delete characters to find it out pretty quickly.

Well, I took my friends name because he had to work thinking I could give it to him later. Then I started seeing that it could be 90 days. I deleted the character and we’ve been trying to see how long it could take. We reached 2 hours and it still wasn’t available to my friend but I could still grab it.
Was totally mislead to think I could help my friend.

Summary of all this, the guys create a programming of the function and they have no idea how it works, saying “quick time” is the same thing as saying I don’t know…
I’m at exactly 4h waiting for the nickname to be released and nothing…
Well he is in the community staff.
