1 weapon per year is not enough to keep the game interesting.
Maybe when the figure out “balance”…
We don’t need more weapons for awhile.
They need to improve balance first and a lot of other useless perks as well.
All weapons should have an identity and just putting in more weapons it’ll be hard to give them identity while managing to keep the game balanced.
Every single weapon they’ve released has launched super overpowered and it’s the last thing the game needs right now.
As for your desire for a scythe as much as I like them myself it’s probably wayyyyyyyy down the line if ever.
Dagger. Celestial Gauntlet, one hand mace, Arcane tome, crossbow, pistol, Halbred are the more realistic upcoming weapons.
They’re not going to figure it out. Best they can do is shift the meta around every so often. More weapons would be nice

New weapon announced for the fall Expansion. So, somewhere, somebody already knows what the weapon will be. hehe.
There will never be enough balance in any game to make players happy, simply because some players are better than others. How the hell people still dies to FT?
Players are level 60 with 13k hp more or less yet people thinks that they should survive 10 direct hits before they die in light armor.
That’s not balance, some skills and perks are busted but nothing gaming break at moment
Balance isn’t going to fix your lack of skill though.
Balance in an MMO is a myth. You’ll never have perfect balance. There’ll always be something at the top that’s stupid OP. It’s just how MMOs work lol. Best thing to do is accept that and either play that weapon, or just do your best against it and look at it as a challenge and you’re the underdog.
It’s an MMO, weapons will never be balanced. Enjoy the unbalanced nature of an MMORPG or buy a proper PvP game. You could always just stick with NW and complain lots knowing it will never make a difference. Balance isn’t AGS’s fault either, despite everyone thinking it is. The best AGS can do is flip weapon bias so that people get the “new” feeling by playing different weapons.

I completely disagree more weapons and also weapon reworks over time will lead to more balance. More weapons means more counter play options etc. decent levels of balance are achievable and adding more weapons can help with that.
That’s not true at all, go play ffxiv or guild wars 2 the games are insanely balanced.
New world is hard because of the action combat element and how overcomplicated and customizable builds can be between weapons and armor weight perks and stats.
I understand that balance would be hard to achieve for this mmo. however the devs are really lacking lately and just keep missing the problem.
They just don’t know hat they are doing. They could take longer and do consistent minor tweaks to get closer to a stronger balance between weapons and armor but every time they take forever and just do aggressive changes that just shift the meta instead of ever getting closer to balance.
Top that off with how they still haven’t released a new opr map. A simple piece of content that would not take long just to introduce a map with less open fields to test how weapons perform with more cover and a smaller map maybe.
So please don’t just sit here and try and defend AGS by saying mmos can’t be balanced. There are a lot of very small simple things AGS could do in a short amount of time to improve the QoL of pvp and balance to reduce some of these severe pain pints.
The forums have been abuzz about abusive premade shooting dex for a year. What do they do? Nerf the “oppressive” melee weapons and make yet another ranged weapon powerful and keeping the bow as an apex predator. Smart AGS.
This update wouldn’t have been that bad off balance If they had the common sense not to mess with fortify until they saw how all their other balance changes played and shifted the meta
People have also been complaining about GS/HA, and bruiser for longer. The issue isn’t the weapons, it’s the terrain. Action combat makes terrain completely change how weapons function and since OPR is a wide open field, range is the pain point. Bow is strong in good hands, and very weak with less skilled players. They fold as soon as you close in on them. Even good bow players die fast if they don’t have space to kite.
You even said it yourself, release a smaller map and see how it changes things. If people looked at arena like they looked at OPR, they would realize the meta isn’t as clear cut as people make it out to be.
