When will New World switch to Unreal 5.1 and leave a lot of these stutter and lag issues behind?

The lumber yard engine has proven to be unstable, latent, and burdensome to modify.
Bite the bullet and start implementing this game using the Unreal 5.1 engine to be freed from that pain. You would be light years ahead of most MMOs other than Ashes of Creation. But with your staff and highly compensated employees, I’m sure you could catch up quickly.

How about you attempt it with a small team and start messing around?

From reading quite a bit about New Worlds gaming platform’s architecture, I understand that you have some severe impedance issues around the ā€œRube Goldbergā€ approach for your overall architecture. You have disparate pieces of software interacting asynchronously, which is suitable for scaling, but they were not individually designed for use in this engine. So you are ā€œshoehorningā€ pieces together.

Please think about it.

when NW 2 is released. Don’t expect it to be integrated in this game ever. They can’t even eliminate bugs that have been in the game for a year +. You really think they have the skillset to integrate UE5?

IF AGS ever decides to put New World up on jacks and drive a new engine under it it’s going to be O3DE and the Atom renderer that goes with it.

They’re not going to shell out millions for a UE5 license and start multiple years of effort to do that.

And this…

Well, if AoC ever actually launches (2024/2025 are some best-guess estimates at this point) we should all circle back and talk about how it stacks up.

I agree about New World should be re-make with Unreal Engine 5.1; because when Throne and Liberty releases in Q2 2023 and then Ashes of Creation within 2024 or Archeage 2 within Q2 2023 or 2024, New World will be truly becoming Archeage 1 in EU region as a total ghost server, New World is already a dead game in EU region…

New World is done that damage is done so hard and when these new Unreal Engine 5 mmorpgs come you will see it more obvious…

UE5 does not require studios to pay for a license. The only monetization is a 5% royalty after the $1,000,001 mark. Easy enough to build into any game’s monetization structure, since Cost Of Goods Sold [COGS] is very low due to being digital distribution.

Selling what amounts to 0’s and 1’s through the internet makes selling software sales a very high margin business. Plus it’s scalable to boot.

A 5% royalty is due only if you are distributing an off-the-shelf product that incorporates Unreal Engine code (such as a game) and the lifetime gross revenue from that product exceeds $1 million USD; in this case, the first $1 million remains royalty-exempt.

Only time you pay is when you start raking in cash for a more successful project. If the product folds & fails there’s no bill to pay. Seems fair.

Youre saying this based on what exactly? The thousands of bugs theyve fixed on top of the hundreds of changes and additions theyve made in 1 year? Because i think this completely disproves your statement :joy: the game is never swapping engines as there is no point in doing so

They cant or they havent gotten around to doing it? Very big difference lmfao. Because every single bug is fixable but theres obviously a priority list

This will not happen, because it is impossible. Don’t waste your time on something you don’t understand

I don’t mean to sound rude but this is not how game development works. Moving NW to UE would require redoing the entire game outside of its assets and basically be a completely pointless undertaking because of that. However, lumberyard sucks, and AGS did the only smart thing they could by gifting it to the Linux foundation.

Based on interviews with employees. And getting a preview of what they are working with.

That is the problem. I do…but I can’t say too much.

Not really…you need to build software components or processes to migrate existing assets. This is what the ashes of creation did. They were able to reuse quite a bit of what they had created.

We getting unreal this year? LOL

They cannot even fix a wrong symbol in a perk formula, and you want them to remaster the whole game. :joy:

Yes!

Never, and Unreal is a trash engine. You guys hype over graphics, but graphics are not the cause of the decline of new world, and the strutter is not something that cannot be fixed.
