In the end the concepts of sportsmanship, honor, progression & merit are lost in this type of topic. Ultimately it will never get across because it seems like whatever the newer gen of people have brought to the table is almost always riddled with entitlement.
You know what else. The two most popular Korean Grinder MMOs in the West. Have at least one equalized PvP venue. Better yet, you do know that eSports genres have out of the gate PvP right.
That being said, as a PvPer why would I subject myself to the fiasco that is New World’s lackluster version of PvP? Why as a PvPer would I subject myself to grind hundreds if not thousands of hours of PvE. If my goal is to PvP. That’s right it make no sense to do so.
When your opinion couldn’t convince me you switch to accusations.
When your accusations fail to provoke you switch to insults
There was never a discussion present with someone who has the “i’m right your wrong” mentality like you.
Accusation 3
You dismiss & insult. About all you know how to do.
Now you’re projecting
You sound like another angry kid from an ol MW2 lobby.
Accusation 4
Nothing makes me feel like more of a boomer gamer than to watch everything get watered down for people who just dont want to get better to win.
I have my kid play 80s arcade games sometimes so he can experience how unforgiving games can be and he loves it. Something like pacman is orders of magnitude harder than the stuff they churn out these days for people that dont apparently want to be challenged.
@derv How ironic that is the stance you are taking. Since you don’t want a challenge of mechanical skill in PvP. But a challenge of who can spend the most time grinding PvE.
Pac"Man is much easier than say a Souls’like game. Do you even have experience with a Souls’like game? Games back in the day was made for developing children. Now if you are going to sit here and tell us that Super Mario is challenging. Then we have figured out why you want New World to die on that hill.
People love a challenge, but people also want their time to be respected.
That’s why major fighting game tournaments like EVO have been going on at an international level for 20 years now.
Fighting games understand skill-based combat better than basically any other genre. It’s MMO players that have a hard time with it.
Realistically, AGS has already made their decision with the combat chest twitch drops which contain PvP gear. They’re literally handing out free gear to try and get people into the PvP scene quicker. That also means they’re not normalizing existing stuff. It’s basically the same thing though, depending on what level that PvP gear is.
Free sets or normalized stats, a rose by any other name.
Aye. But lets be honest, boomer gamers have some of the hardest, challenging and most exciting games that the newer gen couldn’t hope to imagine beating on a quarter. 4 Quarters had to count and that adrenaline will always be a wonderful memory lol. Damn it derv now I feel like a boomer gamer again xD.
Seriously. Go look up the word irony.
Funny I said the opposite of that. Nice attempt at stuffing your words in my mouth tho.
I don’t want to play against people who lack mechanical skill and Ive stated that repeatedly.
If they haven’t played the game enough to have a decent set of gear, guess what else they will probably lack?
I’ve even made it clear that gear is NOT something you only get from PVE. You get PVP gear from doing PVP in the current build of this game. Are any of you still playing it to know that, or just blithely ignoring it?
There is not a player skill value in this game to compare one to the next. There is level and there is gear. There should be a better way to determine if someone is a viable competitor but there is not one.
This is not an e-sport, nor is it a fighting game. This aint Tekken by a long shot.
You guys are so far gone on this idea, you’re looking to the wrong genre for examples or trying to tell us that Korean grinder MMOs are good examples of anything other than microtransaction selling machines.
I really doubt you’ve even considered the HOW of this.
How would you normalize weapon skills if someone has level 20 in a weapon and the other guy has level 5? Do I just lose a bunch of skill perks to make it “even” thus breaking the utility of my specifically designed build?
What do you do when someone has 3 perk BiS gear and they get matched with someone in all greys?
You don’t know. You’re just sure it will work when its a dumbass idea in the first place, and one beyond the capabilities of these developers to even implement.
You should be able to do pvp since low level. In closed beta that was possible ant it was so fun, everyone flagged levels from 10-59 fighting more or less equally thx to scaling.
If pvp is not viable for a lower level there is no point in arguing.
Imo pvp should be scaled from level 10-59 and then at 60 either gs scaled or with reduced gaps (fe: new faction armor tier with 590 gs, more gypsums etc).
There is nothing I hate more than pve players doing dungeons to obtain bis pvp items and then saying things like “more time invested=better in pvp”. Let me tell you something: I bet you suck at the game in pvp and get your ass clapped by low gs players anyway. You are denying pvp to the new and returning players.
I wont even ask for something like scaling if bis pvp gear was obtainable by doing pvp. Its fucking logic, pve gear=for pve; pvp gear=for pvp. Hell it would be ok for me if they make the bis items obtainable by rating in pvp to make pve players cry.
Ags pls stop listening to the pve playerbase, just separate pve and pvp desactivating pve perks on weapons and make pvp the only viable source to obtain pvp perks like resilience etc.
You shouldn’t subject yourself. Nobody is asking you. In fact the game is better without your god-tier pvp skills terrorizing the playerbase. Well except for the low-skill players with better gear who you apparently can’t beat.
Thats just sad at this point. Like do I need to make 50-100 million to get bis gear or what? I know people with over 50 mil. But they are crazy traders. I guess game is now a money-making simulator
Yeah you’re right that’s the main problem, you blame the game, but you should blame players who clearly choosen a game that is not what they want to play.
For my part, you shouldn’t have to choose what you want to play (PvP or PvE) you should have to play the whole game to be competitive in all situation.
AGS should adjust reward for PvP content, adjust some mechanics to close the gap between new players and 8 months ones and that’s it. (Of course some adjustement in perks or other things have to continue)
It’s not what the market want, ok, let New World die, some people (maybe niche ones) want to have this kind of game.
Btw, I’m not sure what you showed is the main thing about the down of NW, so many things are
That’s being very dishonest, when many people know AGS sold the polar opposite of what New World is now. Up until November, New World had scaling that made skill the deciding factor, not gear. So to say blame us, is ludicrous at best.
AGS pulled a classic bait and switch tactic with this game. And here you are defending that. Which in my eyes makes you evil.
True new world was initially sold as PVP when in alpha and changed to full pve when in beta.
New World didn’t complete it’s change into a full PvE grinder till November patch. That was the patch that made New World the polar opposite of what people brought the game for. It was the patch of the mass exodus of players.
Leaving behind the PvEers and cheaters to exclusively enjoy the game. Prior to that patch PvP in New World was booming. I was on Opensky server at the time. Nowhere near the top populated server at the time.
This can still be done plz add a vendor with actual usable gear we buy with salt!
@Luxendra i am begging you… pvp should not be rng, thats just a cheese mechanic to prolong people from getting what they want so they keep playing to get it. That is doing the opposite people just stop playing because they’re tired of it.
I was going to argue against normalizing content but its actually not a bad idea. In instanced pvp OP said in arena only but actually making everyone play eachother at full 625 isnt a bad idea at all. just make all gear 625 eqv. A lot of returning players at 590-600 wont be as alienated from pvp content as they grind GS. I am a big fan of gear helping in fights especially perks etc. but to force players to grind gypsum or be locked out of pvp content is actually pretty harsh.
Perks would of course still be active and BIS gear would still be important but getting all gear to 625 not so much. I play around 620 but if a 520 want to fight me in instanced pvp w/e. I don’t need that much advantage over another player when their perks are probably terrible to boot. Getting to 600 will still be important for those players as all BIS gear is legendary.
Also if I get paired with a 520 it also benefits me. Basically it help flatten the curb a bit against random que fighting pre made teams.
Also premade teams Should have their own que. have a que for solo and a que for teams. A solo can be put into a 2 player team or with randoms. 2 player and 3 player premades fight each other only and never a full random team. Coms and party control is like a cheat code against random ques. I like random Ques and playing with friends but I felt really bad for some players I fought who didn’t stand an ice cubes chance in hell against my team. I have aslo random qued against premade teams and it feels great to win as a random team but it is very difficult.
Also I seen some talks about randomized perks. That is the worst idea in in the history of ideas just make everything 625 eqv in all (instanced) PvP. Keep the perks players use but don’t make named legendries when upgraded. Basically If i have a 590 Lazerus bow make it eqv. to the 625 version just keep is as an epic with 1 perk missing if i am in OPR or Arena. People work hard and MMOs are about progression at the same time the pvp discrepancy between 500 and 625 is harsh. The reward for 600 should be access to BIS which is already a big advantage but a straight power discrepancy doesn’t really need to be a thing.
I am 620. I don’t really benefit from this, I just want returning or new players to have fun while at the same time keeping some reward for those that got to 600. 625 being an advantage in PvE content seems to be more of its purpose.
