When you add pvp arenas it needs to be normalized [poll inside]

Stupid idea to have it for wars and OPR. However, maybe with arenas, you could tweak it a little bit, people like using arenas to try different builds in other games, so maybe AGS could incorporate something where you can literally pick your gear and perks manually when you enter it in normal mode to do this type of stuff and then have a ranked mode where it literally relies on the gear you’ve bought/crafted.

Yeah maybe not wars but opr i still feel like it should

So you wan’t people to have to grind PvE content which they don’t care about in order to be stronger in PvP? So you’re not enjoying doing any PvE content or progressing your character UNLESS it will give you advantage in PvP? Thats saying something about you. You do not wish that skill influeces the fight but rather who plays more.

Your character will still be stronger in EVERY OTHER aspect of the game instead of ARENA. Why do you refuse to include ONE mode which is balanced and equalized? PvE your gear matters. OPR your gear matters. Wars your gear matters. IT HAS TO MATTER IN ARENA TOO? Otherwise you don’t feel fullfilled? One mode where you are on equal footing?

Me personally in Lost Ark got to lvl 26 got access to arena and played that exclusively ever since. If arena wansn’t balanced I’d never touch the game because I am just not interested in PvE. Who says PvE and PvP both need to be played? Why do you want to exclude players which do NOT care about PvE to participate in PvP content?

Thats completely valid but I am sure a vast majority will prefer a balanced system instead.

I lvled to 50 but just wasnt really interested in the pve i still do it a little but i usually just sit and que for the 1v1s and sometimes 3v3

You ask why? Because i LOVE ARENAS - i PLAYED MANY YEARS arenas and was always in TOP of arena. I really WAIT for arenas! And I prepared my character for the arenas! I have 4 BIS sets 625 GS for various options. And you are trying to devalue the work of people who have been collecting the best equipment for themselves for half a year. People who fought for resources earned millions of gold to craft the best equipment for themselves. You want to get the best immediately without doing anything. So it doesn’t work. Doesn’t work in game or in real life. The only thing I can accept in the arena is the system like in Archeage - when there are several arenas and one of them is an arena for beginners in equal equipment. And yes, she wasn’t popular. And the most popular arena was the one in which the players were in their equipment.

Hence casual and ranked. Casual could be equalized and ranked could be the real test.

If they normalize it across the board I wouldn’t even bother with gear either. I agree with how it could destroy PvP, but if they had two separate things, one normalized and one Bring Your Own Gear ranked, that’d be cool.

For casual devs could have pre set builds that you can pick from, like different Dex, Intel, strength and focus armors to pick from and different weapons and have a rotation to try out different builds, create weekly metas to keep it fresh and then in ranked you bring your own gear.

Lets break down your point then. Only reason you Grinded the gear was to have an advantage in PvP. Next patch/expansion that bumps GS to 650 or 700 whatever will still devalue your work and gear making it useless.

So just because you are winning you need to WIN harder? You spent so much time playing the game making you naturally better at it. Isn’t that enough? If some noob just jumps in the game and plays it for 20 hours and beats you in equalized arena that just shows you’re bad and use gear advantage as a cruch instead of just getting better.

Why do I have to earn gear in order to play a balanced game? So everyone needs to spend millions of gold just to compete? How does that make sense? So if someone wants to play some PvP they can’t compete fairly unless they sink hundreds of hours just to play a balanced game.

If everyone has BIS gear then everyone is equal. Your accomplishment does not suddenly lose value if balanced/scaled arenas are added.

You like grind2win/pay2win sure your total right to like it. A lot of people won’t touch it if its not balanced and will just make it so majority of playerbase is excluded due to feeling disadvantaged for having a life.

People still grind gear in Lost Ark even tho it has 0 impact in PvP and the game is doing better than NW. What does PvE have to do with PvP?

Not being able to get better for a good game is only your problem, it’s an MMO - if you don’t put in the time and effort, then what do you expect? Do you want to play 1 hour a day and have everything your heart desires? Do you also whine in life and ask to give everything - but nothing in return?

Why would the rank mode be the unbalanced one? You said if you didn’t need gear to feel competitive you wouldn’t even farm it. So isn’t it better for you then so its balanced so you don’t have to play the content you don’t like (PvE farming gear) to be competitive in the content you care about (PvP)?

balance is an equal chance of winning between players in the same equipment - as an example in 625. But you need to earn this 625 equipment for yourself first, and not ask for it for free. If you want a fast fan - play MOBA. MMORPG is not about fast fun

I’m a Moba player played Dota for 10+ years.

My NW time:

Steam (gyazo.com)

I got full 625 gear. My friend that joins the game if he wants to play Arenas has to grind over 3 months to get his gear doing content he GIVES 0 shit about. Just so he can compete. Do you think people would do it? Hell no. You’re making your community smaller by doing so, you’re making unnecessary chores and just gating it for no reason.

Your gear still matters why does it have to matter in a competitive mode such as Arenas?

Because ranked is a test of everything. In no world would ranked be, “normalized.”

Casual, hence you, would be for equalized combat. Test builds out, test skills, test strats on an equal playing field. Bring that to ranked and bring your own gear because that’s what ranked is. A value of you and your skill. It’s an MMO so naturally you bring in gear.

If you grinded hours upon hours for BiS PvP gear, where’s the reward in some guy buying a 200 gold weapon at 510 that has everything you have besides refreshing? I can see casual being equalized, but never PvP ranked. Why would anyone grind PvP gear? This game would actually be PvE with garbage PvP endgame content.

Do you read PTR notes or… Nah?

You do realize that there is no way PvP arenas would be umbralless right? PvP arenas would most definitely have umbrals granted, and in ranked it could be umbral based on GS bracket or your rank.

PvP gear would matter in Wars and OPR. Arena can still reward umbrals even while being normalized.

You wan’t the mode which rewards skill (same gear) be less competitive over a mode which rewards grind & pay2win tactics? Ok bro… seems legit.

Also if only reason you grind PvP gear is to compete in PvP maybe that PvP gear grind aint that fun then? Aye?

And if it’s normalized, normalize umbral rewards. Flat 100 umbral. Hence, casual.

Umbral would not be tied to equalized combat.

Imagine a guy with a 400 GS hatchet getting 4k umbral in a platinum rank arena match.

No point in umbral on PvP gear if 400 GS is the same as 625.

And yes - if you friend wanna play MMORPG - He should make GEAR first and then go for arena. IF NOT - he can play MOBA with you where you dont need to make GEAR for 3+ months

Best of both worlds. Preset gear casual. Bring your gear ranked. His new friend that’s a fresh 60 could test his skills as endgame in casual, moderate umbral rewards, like OPR.

Obviously a fresh 60 should get destroyed in ranked.

Or even bring your own gear to casual but all gear scales to 625. If you have legit 600 GS, you have an extra perk per slot, so there’s your reward for your grind. The extra perks on a fresh 60 regardless of equalized combat.

5 armor perks advantage
2 weapon perks advantage
3 jewelry perks advantage.

Equalized 95% of the way. 400 GS can compete, but there’s a slight strength in the one who has worked hard already.

Wars is fine enough. Territory control is firmly a nexus of all content. And open world is fine too for similar reasons. But any instanced PvP should be normalized if it’s in the game at all, including OPR.

Alternatively and/or additionally they could just make gear not such a fucking stupidly long grind. I’m closing in on 1200 hours played with 95% of that being as the same build and I have a two live perk set ready for the new patch, which was a side-grade from my old two perk set just with 3 different perks on the armor slots. I also have a handful of alternate pieces, which includes my old set. But that’s it. I finally, after all this time, decided to spend some gold on something other than improving my gear and bought a tier 3 Ebonscale house and started on the path to fully decking it out, and for now that’ll be my goal. I’ve spent about 80k so far and might end up spending another 50-100k before it’s done. I did this because the next step, gear-wise, is to drop hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of gold per slot trying to tack an additional specific perk onto that slot. The gold I’ll have spent on my house likely wouldn’t have even netted me a single of the eight upgrades I’d be working towards.

And this is one loadout in a game with literally thousands of possible combinations between the different weapons, perks, armor classes, and resistance weights. God forbid we actually get to experiment in a game that screams out for it, where ostensibly how you configure your character should be a huge part of the content and skill expression. Instead it’s entirely killed off as content for the vast, vast, vast majority of the playerbase because every loadout is locked behind hundreds and hundreds of hours of grinding.
