Where are the Light Armor Healers?

When I started with this game I wanted to be the best healer possible, so I chose to use light armor for the healing perk. However I am not finding other healers who do this. I am watching YouTubers, such as Baggins, all use heavy armor at 60. The reason they give is because they get one shot as healers in the high level areas, especially with the dynamic combat system.

If healers are not viable with light armor in the end game, why does AGS expect healers to wear it by giving a 20% healing perk?

And then, I am reading threads such as on this forum where healers with heavy armor are overpowered in PVP.

As a person who wants to play a supportive role and not a tank, what is the incentive for me to play a light armor healer?

TBH there isn’t an incentive to play light armor at all for most builds unless you’re focusing on using ranged weapons. Most of the time heavy is just better, especially as melee. All dodges have the same amount of I-frames and both light and heavy have the same stamina cost of 50.

The light roll does roll pretty far and is quick but from my own personal experience, using light armor with melee isn’t ideal because it moves you so far away you are too far from the target to get back into melee range without moving forward again whereas heavy armor allows you to stay in a close enough range to attack quickly after dodge.

Also from multiple threads I’ve read the light armor bonus isn’t even applying to healing done, so there absolutely zero reason to not wear heavy armor as a healer main.

Light armor buffs to healing amount are currently bugged. So why not wear heavy.

Light armor healing buff does not work right now. There is zero reason to be light unless you REALLY want that dodge roll. Medium or heavy are objectively better because of this issue (for the time being)

Wanted to say the same. 20% buff doesnt apply to heals. Bug i guess.

Thanks for the responses. However this is super frustrating. I leveled to 41 so far, exclusively light armor and life staff, and I hear nothing about this from AGS, i.e. in patch notes, etc.?

Yeah, this should have been listed clearly as a known issue.

Even if the 20% heal buff worked, is it worth getting slapped by literally any high level NPC or any person in PvP? Especially when you could (if it worked) mitigate the loss of the 20% buff with trinkets, perks, etc. that provide even more buffs.

I played to level 60 with light armour as a healer and only recently switched because I’m doing a lot more solo content at the moment.

I tried a light armor LS build, I only made it to level 20something before i said f’it.

It makes me feel like I am playing dark souls so that I don’t feel like I am playing a horribly buggy and unfinished game.
I am dodgerolling reality.

For me, I’m running light armor due to the play style. It isn’t “optimal”, but I’m having a blast using light staff/spear.
Too many people are comparing themselves with you tubers… and a ton of those people are PVP oriented.

It’s a game; do what you think is FUN.
If being the best healer possible is what you want, then right now heavy will increase survivability. If you don’t like heavy then don’t wear it! I’m sure the 20% bug will be fixed eventually.

Good luck out there!

It’s nerfed and doesn’t even give increased healing, lol

I played to 60 as a light armor healer because I believed the tool tips…

Silly me.

Ever since release, it was clear that Healers being on Light armor was extremely punishing and not rewarding in any way. Well, perhaps the ability to dodge roll a little far away from mobs, but it hardly helps in dungeons.

I’ve been healer in MMORPGs my whole live and I love light armored healers.

I’m at level 60 and about lvl 40 I changed to heavy. Why?

Simple, anyone with heavy armor and a war axe insta killed me with the burst damage of his 3 attacks(Let’s not talk about their mobility). I just didn’t had enough time to heal myself. I think it’s awfull that anyone with heavy armor has the same speed as someone with medium or light.

I would love to use a robe instead of a heavy armor, but it doesn’t work at all.

in the PTR it seem healing reduced around 20% on all skills, but they also add 30% healing bonus for light armor.

so heavy armor lifestaff is going to get nerfed but healing in light armor remain the same. which probably going to give lifestaff user more incentive to use light armor

the also nerfed the light dodge to the ground, prepare for heavy armor potion chugging Hammer and Great Ace CC spam

I second this is. Is light armor’s one redeeming value gone as well?

I wear light armor because the heavy armor looks bulky. (Shrug) - my hope is that soon they’ll get any bugs in light armor fixed so I can heal in the armor that’s actually appropriate for a healer or mage.
