Where is the fresh server announcement? Any Devs?

It makes no sense…maxed out players have their current characters and servers to play the new content…fresh start will widely attract new and or returning players who might as well be new. Many of us don’t need or want to level more than one character in this game, and are viewing fresh start as a soft re-launch with improved experience.

I can only imagine players complaining about these new servers in some way simply want human fodder for their main characters. (I think another poster mentioned this.) They likely have no interest in the game’s growth outside their personal desires to dominate others in a video game. (What other rationale exists for people willing to cheat and use exploits in a recreational past time?)

I am in agreement with the majority here. Fresh start hopefully will open either just before or alongside the Brimstone update. An announcement would have been nice.

I have played games that are bug free and games that release big content patches without bugs. I thought that is the reason for the PTR?

I mean, if this game is still just bugs, releases with bugs and patches with bugs…

And I dont mean small bugs like a graphics glitch or something. I mean dupping. War lag. Exploits… The real things that pushed people away… Only reason why I stopped. Dupping and the exploits. So many exploits…

Why would you want to wait weeks to play the new content, when you’ve grinded the same content for hundreds of hours? Players who play the game want to play the new content first, without question. You only wouldn’t do that if you were forced to, in order to start a fresh account and have any sort of fresh competitive edge on the fresh start servers. Its easy to fall behind quick in the fresh start servers, and they will take all your time. Look at Ironman competitions in OSRS, same deal, you hop off your main, create a new account on the fresh server, and have to compete to see who can grind and play the best. Its fun.

give me proof of that LOL

This makes much sense…conditions simply may be nonoptimal to release fresh servers right now due to technical issues. They would not want to draw negative attention concerning bugs, eploits, and other things that may not have been fixed.

If this is the case, (it may not be) then my own determination is that the game still isn’t ready for release.

I see that’s where these disagreements are coming from.

As a player who has played since day one (minus a couple months) I see the fresh start servers as a competitive fresh start of a grindy leveling/gearing up race. I know a lot of players who see it the same way, as a chance to start over with no items in the game, and have a race to who can be the best, first, and get the best gear first. Without having to worry about companies who have billions of gold hoarded.

I feel it’s a minority that thinks like you do, that sees the fresh start servers as a soft re-launch. I’m not sure how you could think current players wouldn’t love a chance to compete in a fresh start scenario, and show how good they’ve gotten at this game, and experience it fresh like at launch.

I actually have seen a majority agreeing with me

I see fresh start as a welcoming beacon for returning and the new. You see it as a new game mode for the seasoned vets. While it can certainly be both, the original points made in this thread still remain and I agree with the majority here.

I was excited about returning to the game, so that I could get on a fresh start server and level up in time for Brimstone/Halloween event…

Yea, but if I played on PTR, I play it on Live servers, I won’t play it again on fresh start servers. There’s only so much I can discover and get bored afterwards

I for one won’t touch the game until they release fresh start servers. I just don’t want to do the same thing multiple times. And the people I played with months ago will only return when they release the servers.

Thats great if they do! But all current players don’t see it that way. If they released both the content and fresh start servers, I guarantee they would piss off a lot of the players who struck through with the game and helped it survive. That’s something you just can’t do

Fresh start servers aren’t content focused, the main focus of players will be leveling up fast and getting good gear fast and taking over territory. No player who has been here since launch would play the fresh start casually. It would be a race to be the best in the server, with no one having hoards of gold before you even start

Why not just do both. Spin up a few servers for people who want to get it on day one. And start a few more up a few weeks after for people like you who want both?

Make both parties happy then. Or would you still be mad about that?

Since there is no subscription, anyone who purchased this game or will purchase it has helped it survive. So a new/returning player has as much to do with the game’s survival as you do. (unless you’ve spent thousands on the store of course, haha)

Also, again…the main focus will not be leveling up fast and being highly competetive for many players… this is one of the reasons the game lost over 90 percent of its population…you are confusing your self with an unseen majority.

If the purpose of fresh start is to simply appease the current population, then the idea of growth and rejuvenation would be mindless. And if the game developers are not interested in growth and rejuvenation, then they must not be interested in their earning potential.

Yeah that doesn’t solve the issue of FOMO and bugs on day 1 of major content release.

Like people said before, they quit because of bugs. You think it’s a good idea to say “hey everyone come back” on the day where its most likely to have the highest amount of bugs? be honest

I would argue - These servers are primarily aimed at returning players and trying to get the numbers back up. I get that a lot of current players would love to redo the fresh start experience, but then most of them will eventually return to their main accounts. That’s not good for the population of the fresh start servers either.

I have been here since launch and my plan on fresh start servers is to enjoy the game instead of rushing it. I farmed my brains out in the first few months and I don’t plan on doing that again, just play for fun. I simply cannot imagine myself playing anymore on the live servers for different reasons.

I already know what the game can offer me in it’s entirety, there’s no reason to rush it. There is no leaderboard and no reward for speeding up the game. I find it more enjoyable to start over in a fresh server where everyone plays for fun

You must not be familiar with competition game modes in MMO’s like osrs ultimate ironman modes. Those have been the most popular game modes in the game. This is highly sought after. Look at games like Rust. They reset and people spam log in the first day, to rush and be the best.

Its the #1 drive for a lot of online multiplayer games now, to instill that FOMO and make people compete.

Why would a returning player want to play on a server with no high levels to help them do quests and expeditions? What bonus would a returning player have on a fresh start, over a regular server?

What’s so good about a fresh start that would get someone to play a game they already quit?

I am familiar but it is not at all relevant. Old School Runescape has had a more than healthy population for how many years now?

This has no relevance to the content of this discussion.

And to answer your question…there are many good things about a fresh start for someone who quit over exploits and a bad release. This is quite obvious.

Whats the difference between that, and playing on a low pop server on a new character? If anything going to the low pop server would be the best move, fresh start servers are going to be highly populated at first. there’s no enjoyment when you have to fight handfuls of players kill a monster to complete a quest, and all the low tier nodes are already gathered.
