I could like New World.
However I suspect it will end up as an loss leader offset against profits on Amazon’s balance sheet before it is fixed enough for me to get there.

I see it getting better and better.
I am already struggling with not having enough hours to dedicate to all the things I want to do in game.
The AGS team are doing a good job and it’s only been out a little over a month,
I’m hoping for years of enjoyment.
agreed, but man i have some serious doubts. hope you are right!
yep, im right there with you.
I think it had (and still kind of has) a very rough start ; but being active on the forums a lot, I really have faith in the team that they will do a good job and once they fix the bugs, they will have some great updates for us.
I think it will remain the biggest MMO for a while ( even though they have been losing hundreds of thousands of players).
I think everyone can agree the game has great potential , but I also think we can all see how it can die very easily in its’ current state. it’s all up to the devs, really.
I am having fun but they really crapped the bed the first few weeks. This last patch was great, but they are going to need some more of those “wins” to get back on track and attract people to come back and give it another shot.

People keep ranting about how fewer players there are than at launch while ignoring that - at launch - everyone around the globe hit it hard, many took time off work, people played hard and long. Now the people who work are back at work, people are back to normal sleep cycles, and normal MMO play cycles.
~300,000 peak concurrent players today. Doesn’t sound like a lot, I get it. But given 3 major time zone blocks (EU, NA, SA) how many total people played today? Steam charts doesn’t tell us, and I think it would tell a much more optimistic story.
You make a great point about the published statistics. Plenty of people enjoy this game and play it.
I see new world getting an influx over Christmas but will hang in the 200-400K range and slowly leak players unless some interesting change come. Right now it’s just implementing things that should of already be playable.
Ultimately, it will be a niche game with a small population that struggles to justify the cost of further development and content updates. There are too many poor design decisions and bugs.
This 4 sure
probably somewhere at april-may 2022.
Sadly I think you are correct. Unless AGS add a ton of meat to the bones of New World I can see your prediction becoming reality in a few months
We won’t know until they release the roadmap, which was delayed.
Ill not mention the bugs/errors/exploits. I will mention that they taking actions quickly, and thats exactly what I demand from a dev team.
Said this, if they manage to keep working like now, game has a brilliant future. There is no matter how many problems or how big they are, if dev team assumes responsability and acts accord it All will Be fine.
Good point. The AGS team does seem to be acting quickly to squash the bugs.
This is what I’m hoping happens from its life cycle
We currently are in the stage where everything gets fixed up and a few slight adjustments happening; everything should be functioning as it is soon.
The players have a list of issues and feedback currently that will end up on the devs radar
We then enter the content release cycle and both feedback and release cycles start to converge
The patches we see in the future start making things function better and make more sense
It hits a point where the games potential starts to become more of a reality as they gather feedback, see what works and what doesn’t work.
What id like to see is the progression trees at end game get more fleshed out then they do a gear score increase with new systems in play with more content and everything converges into a nice neat package
Future uncertain! The next few months will be very formative for the game in odd ways. The product they’re able to present around christmas time will be the real test.
Some of the base desings in game economy seem to just not work in practice. Like if this were a survival PvP game which suddenly was patched to a PvE MMO with some PvP elements… I do like this game but I feel it’s not viable in long term without rework how territories and economy work. It just relies too much on small minority of players doing the difficult job of town upkeeping properly.
