Step one is numbers. Have you been keeping numbers? If so please share them.
If not how have you ruled out confirmation bias, cause that’s a whole lot of feels like?

Who keeps numbers? The developers can allow a display of the numbers, so maybe they should reply and give us actual numbers.
The devs even explain things with a “whole lot of feels like”
But you are only using hemp as a guide, the problem is however is that you don’t know if shadecloth from hemp has a maximum or what that maximum is, there is a dev post from hmm around maybe 2 weeks after launch confirming that they found an issue affecting certain gatherable rares from dropping as often as they intend, but that it wasn’t affecting all of them.
Unfortunately since that time it has never been mentioned again.
I appreciate you wrote this but then that’s the other issue, what’s too high, what’s too low? There isn’t an actual written statement from a Dev about it. Again it’s play findings, but why should the player’s be doing guess work when all it is, is a simple thing for a Dev to write or to put it out for people to know.
They literally are depending on us to solve their game for them?
Correct, I don’t have perfect examples for everything. I’ve been enjoying the game and not taking notes in order to thwart all the forum comebacks.
I just want to know my luck numbers. No more examples, just numbers. That’s it
I have kept my numbers I wrote it in posts prior above of the percents I had pre 60 and after 60. I have them all written down cause I was trying to max out my percents.
I mean, I guess we can just wear max luck gear and eat max luck food and hope for the best.
Without a dev reply mentioning actual numbers, or without an update in game to allow us to see our numbers, there is no knowing.
Hopefully the devs give us numbers soon, or allow us to see the numbers since they have to exist.
I don’t disagree with what you have said, I think every player for every game would love full transparency with drop rates and luck modifiers.
I also believe in this game specifically they could do a whole lot more than what we currently have.
My biggest bug bear at the moment is that currently some drop rates do not correspond with their intended rarity.
For example trophy components, particularly the 2nd tier components, they are stupidly rare for a purple grade item, and they are also stupidly rare for the actual bonus that they provide, I cannot believe they intend for these items to be so rare, it makes no logical sense to me.
This is discounted by food which is a set value and not a percentage
But there are some things that are easily seen drop more frequently at certain levels of luck such as when you go from 1 shadecloth out of 20000 hemp compared to 10 out of 2k hemp. But is that luck or is it harvesting skill
This should give you about all you need to know.
True, the mid tier trophy items they said they were going to buff up weeks ago, and what dropped from mat gathering like “fae iron” well when they over boosted yeah it dropped insanely well and now it’s like it hasn’t even dropped but on occasion. If I wear nothing for luck but my tool and eat a food, fae iron is out of control on how much it drops. But according to the guide people keep posting about, it shouldnt even be dropping for me, with only 9% luck and 1400 food.
Again this is players with information, where is the Dev’s giving their written statement. That’s all that some of us want is a Dev or CM response. Posting a link to a player’s post isn’t helping.
False. Sorry. Good reddit thread tho. It is not an answer for everything, nor can it be applied to everything
if they’re being so secretive about it I have no other reason but to assume the entire system is nonfunctional at the moment.
Having a 20% chance at a 1% chance is dumb
Even though Zenimax, has done horrible with much of it’s game these days, they confirm on the forums to their player base of things like this. Same with Arenanet, they say or write up actual statements of how certain things work.
So from my understanding is how much luck you have can drop certain things in luck level range so some gems only have chance to drop from mining nodes at much higher luck % but other things you have to lower your luck a bit to get it to drop more often. This just information i’ve seen and been told so don’t take it as fact.
Arenanet even put on their own site, the drop rates and how much of certain items get put into circulation. There is no guesswork for either games. Yes it’s RNG based and some people never have had items that I have gotten but this being secretive and shady about the whole thing and letting people make up their minds and tell other people how it works isn’t alright imo.
Welcome to New World dev behavior since forever.
I have heard so many things, seen so many guides and watched so many videos, yet there are more level 15 players getting mid tier items with zero luck on my server than I see level 60s getting a basic rabbit’s foot.
They use to respond, and keep up with it. When I wrote up exploits I found during closed man were the responses instant. Now a simple question about something in their game is like pulling teeth for a simple reply.
