Sorry but no MMO has ever been finished…unless they took the servers down, but that’s a different kind of “finished”. The people covering the walls with feces are the same people who would praise WoW when its’ release and all of its major updates were such absolute garbage, they broke records with how god awful they are.
Until I see those same people stop being contrarian hypocrites about WoW, they don’t earn the right to talk about how unfinished NEW MMOs are.
New MMOs improve over time because games improve over time. People talk about how there are horrible bugs with core parts of different weapons, but they’ll talk about how funny and great and depth filled it was when Moonkins in WoW had melee focused talents in their tree. I swear everything in New World can be compared to something in WoW that they did worse.
I hate it when people hold WoW to a very low standard and hold every other game to an impossibly high standard to justify their sunken cost before going back to WoW. It’s cancerous to the MMO world and contributes to the PC MMO decline.
And yes, its things like this that make your post just spite filled blindness. Yeah, people are gonna white knight because your criticisms are nothing but hate filled smears. Of course people are gonna defend it.

Using this logic you’ve gotten your $40 value many times over due to how many people have sunk 200+ hours into the game so far.
When the useless, meaningless, spiteful smearing stops, the white knighting stops. Drop any constructive criticism and you’ll get a conversation. Spew garbage like “They are just trying to cash crab the community for $40” and you lose all credibility.
There has NEVER been an MMO released that didn’t have major issues at launch…not even WoW. It is how the devs handle those issues that will ultimately make or break the game, not the opinions of random players who are mad because “insert selfish complaint here”.
Why should we have to wait for updates that should have been in the game at launch? That’s all I’m saying. I’m not sure what’s wrong with that. Like…I get that all games come with bugs, but these aren’t just bugs. The game is fundamentally flawed, and that’s putting it lightly. I think the ignorance may be on the other side of the table here, bud.
If you dont like the game, dont play it. Never understood why posts like this happen. I see the bad things about the game, but also the good. I enjoy playing it. When I stop enjoying it, ill move onto another. And mmorpgs are always released too early, because of the pressure of the management.
The flip side of this is small indie games like Pantheon and Camelot Unchained, which are taking FOREVER to come out, because they “want to get it right”. Ive been following both for like 8 years now, and they are still not in beta.
For me, if a game starts ‘good’ it will eventually become garbage, and vice versa. Look for an example how weekly Cyberpunk 2077 receiving patches and fixes over the game’s lifespan. Same as this game, started good hopefully it will not become garbage.
It is easy to be frustrated when you are playing a thing and it doesn’t meet your expectations. It’s also easy to have an “us vs. them” mentality when it comes to people who are enjoying the thing that you are frustrated with.
It is ok for people to have fun just as much as it is ok for others to be frustrated. It is not ok for those individuals to actively attack each other. Everyone in this community wants New World to be fun.
We are all pulling in the same direction. We all want the game to be fun. Let’s keep the community constructive and civil while our team works to continually improve the New World experience.
Dude, you dont even have a swimming animation in this game. Thats like the Titantic setting sail with NO life boats!
How do you not even have a swimming animation in this game. You just walk on the bottom of the riverbed like your in T60 Power Armor in Fallout. This alone baffles me to no end! How does a MMO release in a NON beta/early access state WITHOUT SWIMMING?!
Other than that and the muh-hu-sive amount of glaring glitches, bugs and balance issues i got 80 hours into the game playing casually and me and my wife are enjoying the game, it really is a graphically gorgeous game but holy crap.
Meh i dont think so, i actually HATE any swimming mechanic in ANY game i’ve ever played. I’m actually glad we don’t have a swimming animation but its the sheer bloody point. You have a 1.0 released build with NO swimming animation. That’s about the same as not having a walking animation upon release.
I would actually see it as believable NOT having a swimming animation for those of us in a heavy loadout as thats pretty believable but not naked or in light loadouts.
I appreciate you responding to this in the way that you did. Though I was pretty direct with my original post, I never thought it would spark and all-out war, and for that I apologize.
