Both PvE and PvP can co-exist w/o any problems. See DAoC or even a hardcore PvP game like EVE which once had 100k concurrent players on one server.
And nobody cares about the alpha anymore, I wasn’t there, I can’t challenge or support the decision made there. The game is in the n-th iteration since then and almost no one is asking for anything related to the alpha, but in relation to the current state of the game.
All the PvE I did in NW was to fuel the gear for PvP and I didn’t mind it, but since the PvP is as good as dead, there is no reason for me to put in the hours through PvE.
All the PvP players leaving will put immense pressure on the already split PvE community.
What’s gonna be left will be streamers advertising their chest runs in the Recruitment chat channel.
The social bonds formed through NW will not hold forever, people will move on in groups to other games, next stop is prolly Throne and Liberty.
I see NW falling appart just by looking on the company roster and checking who has been inactive for how long.
And the game can’t attract enough fresh blood, you need a stable core of players and streamers keeping people interested.

FACT . New World completely changed from being a full loot pvp survival game to a pve focused, no-forced pvp game before it even entered beta because it would have failed otherwise from lack of interest.

New “raid” which gonna be same as pve arena just for 20 people( look at GF, look at leaderboards, dont expect that they will do something good/ exctra) and yeah it will come in 9 month as well

How many different expeditions are there? How many pvp modes are there? balanced and even (as the devs themselves have said is their goal). Not even close.
Are the rewards balanced and even (as the devs themselves have said is their goal). Do you get the same kind of drops and gold from doing OPR and arena and open world pvp as you do in expeditions, crafting, and soon raids? Not even close.
What’s the pvp equivalent to gathering? There isn’t one, unless you want to say standing in a fort over and over until you get a tier 4 potion or a useless purple item on the pvp track.
There is no reason they can’t make half of the zones automatic pvp flagged when in them (with a unique incentive to be there), and those who want to avoid that can farm/gather in non pvp zones, and those zones should rotate. Fighting over resources should be a thing. I’m sure the bots will disagree.
Yea that guy is such an specimen. He also banned me last year from the subreddit when it was filled with shit posts about dupes and I called him to keep clean the forum. He is the only mod and admin of that sub and he doesn’t give a shit about it, if he personally doesn’t like a thread he takes it down based on his ass rules and if you argue you are banned without hasitation.
The point of a pvp server request was that it isnt new content. It would be easy to turn off flaggable pvp for 1 server. Its a small request that would take much less development time than new pvp content.
Whats weird is, I like my entire company bought the game before official release when it was a pvp 3 faction war sandbox with pve elements. Then when they made these changes towards pve, the steam charts dropped from 900,000 concurrent down to 15,000 concurrent. Not a single person in our company or my steam friends still plays new world.
You might be the current majority but theres no proof that alllll the 1.5 million + masses that quit were not largely pvx crowds.
My point is, its a terrible hill to die on - theres no progression, no structure and sadly the truth is we have the ability to experience world PvP whenever we want there just isnt the desire from the majority of players, clearly.
Fighting for instance PvP with an arena rating system or rank system with titles and maybe even a PvP vendor to purchase gear from. Thats something that people will gameplay loop.

But every time someone talks about world PvP they talk about that one or two times they had a really special encounter and thats great but its not going to sustain PvP endgame and its only going to fracture the playerbase thats already very clearly divided between FSS/RTA and Legacy.

It just gives pvp lovers a place to have a real open world 3 faction sandbox territory war. And again, would effectively cost a lot less to produce than developing new content–because its just removing the flag pvp toggle option. For one measly server…

Dont be melodramatic. There still is pvp in the game. It exists and its not like the devs cant pick up where they left off. Their current design for activities is mundane and they wish to make improvements on it. This is a good thing for pve and future pvp modes. Its the same thing playstation did back in the 2000s rather simply creating a beast of a machine in the back tool shed in secret. You dont want to spoil the surprise before you open your presents. Playing a different game is the only appropriate way to deal with this horrible state of things. AGS shit the bed and have no interest in cleaning it up either. Lost cause.
I will acknowledge though that there isnt much that they are willing to do on the pvpve side of thigs though. Their faction missions should have been fixed withing 5 months of release but not enough people would mention that. The fort capture mechanic went from okay this is the mechanic to okay this is boring to okay this cant stay like this to okay guys do something about this. Then they patch it to make some “fixes” and all they did to that was double the time it takes to capture a fort. I wish i didnt spend any time at all in this game if I knew this was going to be their approach to open world pvp and pve experiences never mind the instanced dungeon crawler and opr experience. What we are seeing is ags being modders for an existing model. I would be curious towards just who did the brinstone sands add on and new quest design. Im starting to suspect that those features are subcontracted out. That not a whole lot of production is coming out from ags directly.
This is an underrated comment and you just reminded me something very important.
The main big reason why so many found new world interesting in the start is because NW focused on open world content and not instances content like EVERY other MMO.
And here we are… open world is dead and deserted and only instanced content exists.
Yeah, and thats what gets me so frustrated. Because they layed out a wide open area for battles to wage and it was supposed to be this awsome picture of busy roads of people running back n forth and people trading in and out of the town market and the corruption being this looming threat that people would be legitimately concerned with in terms of how many breaches are currently going on. What we see now is a far cry from that. People purchasing rare items on the market for 10gold, corruption breaches ignored unless they spawned over rare material nodes, fort captures have been reduced to a psuedo idle player experience with the odd running to another destination. Everyone complaining about nerfing weapons and buffing reward drops when people ignore that this is an action adventure game that is supposed to accomplish the most important feature, fun… There are no words to describe my disappointment in the community.
Everyone in my PvE focused company does PvP as side content, theres like 5 of you in the forums who seem to only play one gamemode yet you are all extremely active in PvP focused threads to shill against it
