Who's excited about NW's PVP Roadmap for 2023?!

Il just say this, your focus for PvP was sorely misplaced and wildly unfavorable clearly in the eyes of the majority of the playerbase.

You spent way to much effort focusing on a PvP only server and that honestly was/is just a terrible idea.

Most people are rallying for PvP modes (CTF, Domination, push the cart) , new maps and a ranking system.

If this had been your focus from the start I think you would of seen some success.

Yea that guy is such an specimen. He also banned me last year from the subreddit when it was filled with shit posts about dupes and I called him to keep clean the forum. He is the only mod and admin of that sub and he doesn’t give a shit about it, if he personally doesn’t like a thread he takes it down based on his ass rules and if you argue you are banned without hasitation.

I wish NW created an official subreddit.

The point of a pvp server request was that it isnt new content. It would be easy to turn off flaggable pvp for 1 server. Its a small request that would take much less development time than new pvp content.

Whats weird is, I like my entire company bought the game before official release when it was a pvp 3 faction war sandbox with pve elements. Then when they made these changes towards pve, the steam charts dropped from 900,000 concurrent down to 15,000 concurrent. Not a single person in our company or my steam friends still plays new world.

You might be the current majority but theres no proof that alllll the 1.5 million + masses that quit were not largely pvx crowds.

My point is, its a terrible hill to die on - theres no progression, no structure and sadly the truth is we have the ability to experience world PvP whenever we want there just isnt the desire from the majority of players, clearly.

Fighting for instance PvP with an arena rating system or rank system with titles and maybe even a PvP vendor to purchase gear from. Thats something that people will gameplay loop.

Its quantifiable.

But every time someone talks about world PvP they talk about that one or two times they had a really special encounter and thats great but its not going to sustain PvP endgame and its only going to fracture the playerbase thats already very clearly divided between FSS/RTA and Legacy.

Jiggy is right, its time to move on from suggesting forced WPVP.

One pvp server doesnt force pvp on allllllllll the other pvx servers…

It just gives pvp lovers a place to have a real open world 3 faction sandbox territory war. And again, would effectively cost a lot less to produce than developing new content–because its just removing the flag pvp toggle option. For one measly server…

The pve-only crowd doesnt want roadmap to waste dev time on new pvp content? Then at least give us one measly pvp server…

Dont be melodramatic. There still is pvp in the game. It exists and its not like the devs cant pick up where they left off. Their current design for activities is mundane and they wish to make improvements on it. This is a good thing for pve and future pvp modes. Its the same thing playstation did back in the 2000s rather simply creating a beast of a machine in the back tool shed in secret. You dont want to spoil the surprise before you open your presents. Just relax and enjoy the current

The issue is that the present is coal. And they forgot your birthday so you won’t even get your coal this year. Maybe they remember your birthday next year. 24months from now.

And relax and enjoy the current… this is impossible. OpR is not enjoyable at all. Not even a tiny bit. It doesn’t even have moments of fun anymore.

Playing a different game is the only appropriate way to deal with this horrible state of things. AGS shit the bed and have no interest in cleaning it up either. Lost cause.

I will acknowledge though that there isnt much that they are willing to do on the pvpve side of thigs though. Their faction missions should have been fixed withing 5 months of release but not enough people would mention that. The fort capture mechanic went from okay this is the mechanic to okay this is boring to okay this cant stay like this to okay guys do something about this. Then they patch it to make some “fixes” and all they did to that was double the time it takes to capture a fort. I wish i didnt spend any time at all in this game if I knew this was going to be their approach to open world pvp and pve experiences never mind the instanced dungeon crawler and opr experience. What we are seeing is ags being modders for an existing model. I would be curious towards just who did the brinstone sands add on and new quest design. Im starting to suspect that those features are subcontracted out. That not a whole lot of production is coming out from ags directly.

This is an underrated comment and you just reminded me something very important.

The main big reason why so many found new world interesting in the start is because NW focused on open world content and not instances content like EVERY other MMO.

And here we are… open world is dead and deserted and only instanced content exists.

That is exactly what PVP deserves. I don’t see any problem with this roadmap. Good stuff AGS!

Yeah, and thats what gets me so frustrated. Because they layed out a wide open area for battles to wage and it was supposed to be this awsome picture of busy roads of people running back n forth and people trading in and out of the town market and the corruption being this looming threat that people would be legitimately concerned with in terms of how many breaches are currently going on. What we see now is a far cry from that. People purchasing rare items on the market for 10gold, corruption breaches ignored unless they spawned over rare material nodes, fort captures have been reduced to a psuedo idle player experience with the odd running to another destination. Everyone complaining about nerfing weapons and buffing reward drops when people ignore that this is an action adventure game that is supposed to accomplish the most important feature, fun… There are no words to describe my disappointment in the community.

Everyone in my PvE focused company does PvP as side content, theres like 5 of you in the forums who seem to only play one gamemode yet you are all extremely active in PvP focused threads to shill against it

New World aint it.

maybe the real pvp was the posts we made on the forum along the way.

for real pvp in this game is kind of a joke. however, I do enjoy the open world pvp focused on forts. I don’t like wars… they’re boring and ppl take them wayy too seriously even though the only ppl honestly benefiting are the govs.

but the battles over the fort and the pushing of territories can be quite fun. it would be nice if they added a few more reasons for those kinds of battles and maybe added a bit more reward to them. like turn off the thing where you can only get pvp points once from a person if you’re fighting on the fort. better drops from enemies. more variety to the pvp quest lines.

open world pvp involving treasure chest hunting is bad and needs to go… but hte pvp for the sake of pvp can be fun. maybe some open world pvp modes like a capture the flag mode. at fort or a death match mode… at fort. that would be fun stuff

It’s why I’m taking a break.

Yeah I’m switching back to Hunt: Showdown full time again. Its been fun to return for these couple of months but its been over a year since official release and all they added pvp-wise is Arena and PvP track.

This game needs to go down to 20k players one more time for devs to finally realize what kept it going in 2021 and it sure as hell wasn’t Garden of Genesis or chest runs.

BIG TRUE.

But that is what is going to happen though. Lots of PvE players on these forums trying to make it sounds like pvp in new world is not important. It may be true for world of warcraft and ffxiv. But PvP in new world is the literal glue that holds the entire game together. Without it there wont be a playerbase.

4-5 months from now the game will be down to 8-10k players again and all the PvE players will wonder why they cant find any m10s and maybe finally realize that the people who run m10s and the people who buy all their crafted gear and all the resources they farm are the PvP players who will be off playing other games.

Maybe then AGS will realize they need to implement some PvP content.

Hit the nail on the head here. PvE players come and go but the PvP player base is the most active and loyal by a long stretch.
