I’ve been trying to play S&S since launch as a DPS, I like the style and I believe people have to play the way they like, but why is it so weak? it has the worst dps and the worst cd, any secondary weapon i use returns cd before sword and shield always.
Some may say S&S has extra perk on the shield, but if you do the test you will know that it doesn’t work in basic attack with the sword only with shield skill unfortunately.

If you put all your weapon points into the shield and all attributes into constitution then you went with a tank build.

Put everything into sword and strength to 300 and 150 con. Look for perks on armor that add to your attacks. I am doing good with it and still leveling my sword up.

you are still leveling the sword, yet are trying to give advice to a player who clearly stated he is trying to play SnS DPS since launch?

Also a light build will add atk and mobility. A med build is where I am and seems to be enough in the middle to have more defence and a bit of mobility but lose the atk bonus. You can go heavy but will end up stuck in the fight at times since getting away is a pain. Heavy is good for the tank but can hinder DPS.
Yeah, Because I disagree with it being the weakest. It is how you spec.
Concordo que o escudo tenha vários problemas, inclusive esses que você disse. Porém eu acho que a proposta da arma não é ser um DPS. Claro que você pode jogar como quiser e se divertir, porém em termos de potencial, ela fica restrita. O que vi algumas pessoas fazendo é usar a espada como utilidade (block, stun, leap) e então encaixar um combo com a arma secundária ( gerar axe, hammer, spear). Mas com a espada em si, ela tem sérias limitações para o dps.
Alias, esses jogadores usavam um set leve
Thanks for the tips, but Zeiffer I already tried this and more things that you will test, problem is that S&S compared to other dps weapons, it is usually used to stun and switch to hammer or other weapons, the damage is not good and the CD’s are absurd compared to other weapons.

I don’t find sword DPS build lacking DPS very much. It’s no GA or VG, but it constantly snares, has one of the best gap closers in the game, and a good Stun as well. Leaping strike, inteo Shield Slam into Reverse stab is a fantastic combo. Keep swinging with sword for snares, if they get away, swap to GA, use Charge+gravity well, or reap. Back to sword, keep snaring.
Hatchet also works pretty well.
If you really want to hunt down kiters, go light armor. My main build is SnS/Spear with 250 dex 200 con.
right now Melee is heavily affected by the Desync however, making any hits unreliable 
sword / shield is unplayable in endgame - there is still no fix for the missing 15 stats. we cant reach the last stats perk, this is ridicules.
i hope groups will enjoy finding tanks.
