so this might be kind of a silly question, because maybe it is just part of the basic mechanics of how stuff works in the game.
but as a melee player, at least in PVE i constantly feel like i am sliding around on the floor and that i do not have control of my character. this is just kind of a base thing about the game that is kind of getting on my nerves. i feel like it is impossible for me to stand in plade while fighting.
is this just a base mechanic that is at the heart of the game design? among the other 100s of things that need to be fixed in this game, is this on the list?
maybe that is it. been playing for a while but i just don’t get it. i cannot get my char to stand in place. but if it is part of the base mechanics of the plan of how the game works then that is it. can’t really ask for it to be changed or improved. maybe it makes combat more fun for some peeps dunno.
I personally like it when I play dps, only time I think its abit annoying is when I tanking, using heavy armor and you still get toss around like an pingpong ball.
When the game released pretty much every attack from a mob would stagger you. All the time you would get trapped in corners by multiple mobs attacking you. It was very obnoxious and they removed the stagger. However you still get pushed around. Even in pvp basic attacks will push your character around. Rapier heavies I think displace your character the most. I don’t like it. I wish they removed it but oh well.
i think i read somewhere that also, at least for melee attackers, that each time you do an attack the game has some sort of mechanism where it tries to reposition you.
so basically you are getting moved a bit when you attack, and you move a bit when you get hit. some peeps on this thread already said they like it which i assume had to be the case sometimes. but for me it just gives a very odd feel to combat. and then on top of all of it there is collision with other players on your own team.
i find that more than a few times i am trying to find a way to position myself to attack and also not get knocked off a ledge etc. lol
Basically the designers of the game has this horrible idea (not the first, not the last) of working in “interrupt” (animation cancelling (offensively))and “knock back” (one of the types of stagger) into melee attacks.
It was a very bad design position that has been providing huge amounts of problems. they are thinks that ultimately need to be redesigned.
yea but i wonder if they will change it. i guess i am gonna play this game for as long as i enjoy it like anybody. and then when i don’t i will find something else. i think in 2-3 years it would be worth seeing what it becomes.
They are close. A few combat revisions and some ranked pvp and raids and maybe some touchups on classes and they game will be good. This is only a few good content patches. Realistically that can all be accomplished in half a year.
Personally outside of what the game needs i am so desperate for more mage weapons (especially lightning) that are damage oriented (ie pure int) like firestaff.
