Why are corruption breaches suddenly giving so much XP?

I logged in for the first time in 2 days yesterday. High pop server at peak time.

Windsward was dead, okay kinda weird this place is usually poppin - will check out Weaver’s… dead too. Where is everyone?
Check chat… entire faction is organizing ‘corruption trains’ in high level zones.
Okay this could be fun for a bit, and I’ll get my azoth back up to max.
Travel up to Mourningdale… 30+ people zerging every corruption event, run into 30+ from other factions doing the same thing.
Sometimes there’s multiple hundreds at the same event that causes game to freeze for few secs.
Concerned that servers might literally crash, but whatever.
Land a few hits, spam Sacred Ground… 6000 XP! Next one… 3k… 4k etc etc.
100 people drowning selves in water when run is completed to get back to town and start another.

What the HELL happened? This was a problem that was solved a year ago when the same issue occured in the Preview event. Why are these now suddenly giving ridiculously more experience than questing for the same time investment? They have enough incentive as is by offering azoth at good amounts.

I don’t blame people for running them for XP, but it’s just demotivating to even level any more which forces me to gather and craft and even that is just not worth the time or effort because I get far better loot more frequently from high level mobs.
