Drop rates are a “secret” in every MMO. That data is actually much more datamineable in New World than in other games.
Drop rates and luck hard and soft caps are 2 different things.
This is common in every MMO I’ve played for the past 20-25 years. Data out there about this stuff is generated by the players through a multitude of testing on their ends.
There’s no “luck cap.” I think you’re confused with the bug that previously existed that punished high amounts of luck, which is supposedly fixed now.
Luck could be a little more intuitive (ie. some drops aren’t affected by luck and players have to datamine this information), but we don’t really need an NPC that says “Hey adventurer, you must have at least 18.4% mining luck for a chance at Tolvium!”
The devs don’t even know how it works. That applies to many aspects of the game.
With all this being said, it doesn’t explain why my drop rate has dropped so significantly if all they did was give people a way to get higher luck %.
Ok so percentages, and luck rates etc. will probably never be shared and never has been in any game really.
Apparently, if you have pearls slotted in your gear that has luck perks then they get overridden and only the pearl bonus is applied. I have not tested this myself though so I cannot be sure.
These kind of things are always left up to the players to find out and rightly so. It happens in every mmo and its nice to do some experimenting.
See but that too doesn’t make sense, if you add something to your gear that is going to negate something then it should be stated as a warning or change stat values on gear. They can add your luck % in a tool tip down on the bottom of the gear screen by the gear score and stats that shows you increase or decrease then??? These things simply don’t make sense. It’s an explanation for a bad game mechanic that should be changed. You can read through the forums and see the millions of mysteries behind luck post after post. If people with no luck gear are getting better drops running pvp flagged than people with full luck gear and pvp flagged, either its broken or the amount of luck you really needs is greatly lower than thought. I’m guessing it’s just plain broken.
Apologies I should have been more clear. I believe it is a bug so obviously at that point you should slot other gems.
Why can’t I see all my stats on a full stat sheet.
Like I open inventory and it forces me to stop the entire game to see my bags. Annoying af. But you show me some of my stats but then I still need to have another thing to calculate the rest. Kind of kills immersion when I use Google docs to track my HWM, what my luck is with certain gear sets and such just saying.
I don’t get why if you force me to stop doing anything to open my bag and take up my entire screen then give me a way to see every stat and then values make use of all that space. Or just give us a way to see it elsewhere.
imo is tedious same like bank to say you must guess what is our interest on your loan after you take it, or to buy drink with mystery flavor, but look like Devs think this way is fun for players or more like they try to hide the low numbers or when they change them
You play any mmo and I think you would be using a spreadsheet for something. I think tracking HWM and gear etc is part of the experience. You don’t have to do it but if you want to be efficient you can.
next step is to do same with stats will be so much fun not even one item to have stats on it and you need to test it put it in spreadsheet to know what it is 
People do that already. How do you think people know where to allocate their stats?
I have received 4 different drops worth around 60 k gold on my server flagged…luck/armoring/weaponsmith trophy components …in full mining luck gear

nah, actually games that don’t hide these things tend to be better.
I agree its common though
that said, hiding things under the hood is a bad idea if your ability to test and fix things is poor. You just create broken systems that are harder to diagnose.
i get same nothing with and without luck, most of the time probability to get something good are from extremely low to this is smallest possible positive number to 0
EDIT: this is also is considered like big fun from Devs in most MMO
I track tons of things in every MMO I’ve played that’s not the point.
I was saying stats sheet why isn’t this a basic thing.
Since we don’t have item sets. I track what all my different luck versions will be with different combinations since luck is messed up and you need to find a sweet spot. Least that’s how I feel.
When I talk luck I talk all the different kinds mob luck, mining etc.
But you should be able to see every stat in one place, I have never seen any MMO without a good stat sheet.

Also note 30% from PvP flag is = 3000
tracking this kind of thing need extremely big numbers in attempts and fluctuations of 1 extra drop change picture allot, lets say for 10k supply opened i got 3 trophy things , in same time rabbit foot is common not same % for sure i doubt you have found 10 or 100 same rare items so you can state this is drop chance this is how is related to luck
