You’re correct, the MMO genre didn’t start yesterday. But this is arguably the biggest MMO launch during the ‘streaming era,’ which does bring unique and unforeseeable issues, whether we like it or not.
I would also argue that most of the individuals who bought this game can “use” the game - they are just unhappy with queue times, which is completely understandable.
My comment regarding ‘It’s the Internet’ was vague. What I should’ve said was ‘from my experience, those who are most upset with a product or service tend to be the loudest on the Internet.’
While I’ve had problems with the game, I’ve still enjoyed it. It’s been one day and A TON of people are playing. We need to trust it will all get fixed.
Now, if these problems exist weeks, even months down the road, then I believe the anger is warranted.
Must be nice, all mine are playing but I have an error serverside that keeps me from joining. Waited in queue multiple times. Hours of trying to make it work and all support had to say was “yep it’s broken on our side, no there’s nothing you can do to fix it”. I got the opposite experience, I got to hear all my friends play and have a great time without me.
I preordered 6 months ago. I played the closed beta, I passed on the open beta (did not feel like going through all of that again knowing I would have to start over at launch)
It is in the middle of the week. I work and will not be able to try and play until the weekend. Maybe if they get enough servers up for the weekend.
I have a lot going on in my life so It will not be a bid deal if I don’t start playing this weekend. I have to move from my house soon. so I will be busy for months. Hopefully by the time I can start playing they will get enough servers up that I won’t have to deal with the queue frustration.
I will be watching to see how this unfolds
Good luck to you guys.
Have you ever heard the expression “I have a love & hate relation with WoW”.
It’s a paralell universive which most WoW players have.
The only difference in this equations that you call entitled ppl are the most passionate gamers out there btw, is that in wow the developers have been trash for a long time but you’re just an addict to the game eitherway.
It’s same here, those who even got to play this new MMO even for just 10 minutes fell in love with it immediately and fiercly, and now we deal with a bunch of hinderance which leads to AKA fuming the forums. Its natural passion and love for something, and right now, our love New World is arguing with us.
If you are getting this emotional and butt-hurt over a video game then you should really reevaluate your life, lol. I hope you can feel better about a video game. Good luck with that.
Amazon literally hosts and have servers for 3 of the most used services in the world yet they couldn’t get New World to work, which would have a substantially lower userbase. There is no excuse for this and boot licking is not going to help. Especially when people can’t even play the game because the game crashes for literally no reason in the queue.
Its a new game its bound to have its bugs - anyone remember ESO launch now that WAS a disaster.
This is a playable game albeit with some frustrating queues which are getting shorter & I am sure will get sorted asap.
Start the game go make a cup of tea etc its not that much of a hassle to wait in a queue for an hour or so after all we have been waiting years for this game a little longer is no hassle.
Yes you can multitask - I dont think the queues at least for me anyways is the problem.
My issue is waiting in the queue for hours and then getting kicked when you have a few hundred left due to a “error” and when you try and rejoin it kicks you all the way back to the beginning again!!!
That for me isnt right, as i type this i joined the queue at 7am at 1411, its now 9am and im 1044, approx 200 spaces a hour - Thats a 7hour + wait… Ill do it, if i know im 100% getting in at the end of it and dont have to sit and wait all over again!!!
