Why are people trying to join full servers?

Maybe they have friends there? Maybe their guild formed there? I have a number of members of my guild (Company) who have not yet been able to get into the game. Consider yourself lucky and maybe don’t pass judgement on others. They aren’t idiots. They just want to play with people they know.

The minute the NA East servers went live, I played 4 hours straight on Ogygia. Got my n00bie toon to level 12ish.

Logged off to level up my adult skill, ten or so hours later I tried to play again.

Ended up being number 940wtf in queue. Deleted that toon in order to start fresh on one of the newer servers.

Hopefully I won’t have to do that again.

It;s mainly due to all the Twitch streamers. They all want to get a chance of seeing their fav streamer in a video game. And a chance to hold their hands in a virtual world. They bring over some of the mos toxic people i have ever seen…Sequisha and his community have raised taxes to EXTREME in over 4 areas already…there is NO Marauders faction…and syndicate owns about 2 areas…It’s ruining the game and it’s natural organic form.
.

I’m already heavily invested in my server’s economy. I chose my server when it was an extremely low pop server with zero streamers on it about an hour before launch. I got unlucky, because 9 streamers joined at launch and now it’s a top 5 server. But, too late for me to turn back now. I’ve committed to this one with my friends and will just ride out the queues until it gets under control.

I am actually fine with rerolling on a low pop server, I only have 20 hours in my character and restarting would actually work out because I wasted a lot of time leveling weapons I don’t use now… However my friends and company are committed to this server, so I am stuck here until either they get annoyed with the 2k queue, or server transfers are allowed.

A lot of players are desperately trying to play withtheir friends or communities. As communiy leader, this situation is nightmarish to ensure everyone can enjoy the game.
BUT I’m glad aabout the free transfer opportunity. This is the only solution to allow communities to regroup.

I’m NOT leaving Utopia and I’m not waiting for anymore than 20 minutes for a queue. I might be out of the game for awhile.

Yep. That and my entire main part of my guild is indeed on one server and I have played with these guys for ten years. I ain’t going to another server.

Changing Servers is not the answer. My question is eslderscrolls online plays on EU and NA servers I have never had a wait time. Elite Dangerous also in open pve and pvp never had a wait time so why New World?

You guys are talking like there are bunch of empty servers… but ALL servers are full and when i come from work there is on every server queue min 3.000.

It is devs fault, do not say it is not… they knew it will be massive income of players, and there should be enough servers (merged later when player count drops) - that is MMO basic starter pack…

I did not get the change to play yet… because of this, and if i will not be able to play friday/weekend i will refund this and thank you.

Just curious as to why?

Guilds mostly. Our guild settled on a server that we hoped wouldn’t be too busy, but not dead. For a while on launch it was just that, and then the queues started.

The rest of our guild trickled in, with some unable to join until the second day, and a few on the third.

Most people didn’t want to abandon the work they put into their characters so starting over would break up the guild we’d been cultivating for months and there would be no guarantee the same thing wouldn’t happen to the server we went to.

So we’re waiting for transfers and suffering through 3 hour queues on weekdays. Everyone complaining about queues is in for a treat this weekend.

Already have an established character on Tritonis, my company of friends are on Tritonis, I do not want to leave my company, I don’t want to start over, why should I have to roll a new character on a new server just to play?

What is a “natural and organic” form? Someone will always be superior, someone will always be able to organize and lead groups much better than others, someone will always handle crowdsourcing of resources and funds to take over areas.

What’s truly toxic is entitled brats thinking this game would ever serve up an “equal opportunity”. The first and biggest groups out of the gate will always be superior.

Well, maybe because all my friends play there, we have a company there, I am level 33 and no, I dont want to start over again.

And yeah, also because the free server transfers, which are free only for the first 2 weeks, arent even available yet for us to go to another server.

New players who are trying to join new servers are just stupid- they can join low pop and then move over with their friends in the upcoming weeks.

Old players who started on servers and are now stuck there don’t really have a choice. (Level 40, Company owns territory, etc)

LMAO yeah bottleneck the server that has a player cap of 2k. Stupidest decision ever for an mmo. Not one mmo has that low of a cap.

They should NEVER close registration of new players but instead learn about scaling and how it works. Folks who are new to cloud computing may not know there is a way to dynamically add capacity to servers to address intense workloads and as easily scale those resources back when demand is not enough. This is one of the basic tenants of cloud computing and addresses not only demand but the cost for that demand.

It simply baffles me that AGS doesn’t appear to be taking advantage of one of the core principles of a cloud infrastructure - the ability to quickly scale resources.

The issue is not technical but game design. The game isn’t designed to have 5k players mostly running around in 5 zones. It would break the game, even if the servers are completely stable.
