The issue is …people who ask for pvp servers, they mostly do it because of issues they have with the current servers and think if they make it all pvp everything will be good, rainbows and sunshine:)
for example mounts was easier to get because players had a easy to understand goal/reason of what hey want.
They wanted mounts in game because the world is getting bigger and they want to travel faster but still explore the world, not just teleport around. Mounts don’t affect other system currently in game. It also helped they had some ideas before about this kind of implementation.
For them to open pvp servers a lot of people needs to agree what exactly they want and how would it work inside new world, not in other games.
if you go xxx games is better then new world because it has yyyyy system … nothing is going to happened
Well it was around or just before the launch of the game and coming up to its first anniversary and nothing has been said since, what is it if not a rumour?
I think in most of the PVP threads the most common theme is, high level zones should be flagged. Most of us would be happy with that change alone. The forts in white zones should be contestable, for gathering bonuses.
Personally, i think territory owners should be able to flag/unflag their territory and declare war on other companies that would make them red to each other no matter what.
It’s not an incredibly big ask, and most of us would be happy with these changes. Surely they could be fine tuned, but that’s what i would be happy with.
But even with all that, they could add “Additional white zones” that DID mimic this behavior. They could also add company flagging VS other companies on regular servers, and i would also be satisfied with this.
I don’t personally have to have a whole separate server to have these things, but it seems like just mentioning PVP centric changes tends to stir up a bee hive.

Then i would call it a “rumor” i guess. But as it stands, since then mount items have also been data mined. As in after the fact, more recently. So it is something they are working toward.
So, it is “Confirmed” in the sense that scot said we will have them. I’d be more worried if there had been any contradicting statements since then, but there haven’t been. So i’m satisfied in waiting.
Because they already tried PvP servers and saw what a toxic cesspool they were. The Devs themselves said players were the reason they werent sticking to that path, players are incapable of controlling themselves
Tbf that was as a survival game with loot dropping and no limits. Not saying it would be different, but it would need to be tried to say for sure how bad of an idea it would actually be.
I simply don’t get the thought process from people arguing against this. You think it’s a bad idea? Fine, that’s your opinion and pure speculation. What happened years ago when the game was completely different with dropping your full loot upon death and stagger/stun lock still being a thing has no bearing on how a PvP only server would go now. It doesn’t affect you guys in any way. Why are you so worried on how it will go? Keep that concern for your PvX servers.
GW 2 is instanced pvp which tend to function different than open world, it was also very different on release than it is now, the commander title turned it into a zerg since players had a marker on the map to run to every time and follow
i would like to see resource drop say 50% of resources drop on kills so both side gets something, i would say gear should also loose durability on pvp death and when repairing they have a chance to loose max durability so it needs to be replaced regularly. Should also be easier to roll correct stats on equipment too since it need replaced somewhat regualry.
Pvp servers are so pointless but id totally be for it if it meant the clown shell companies would go there (they continue to ruin all servers, 10/11 territories on dry tree are currently owned by different shell companies…)
To answer your question Katu, one mega company cannot gatekeep the entire server on a zone. There will just be too many people contesting everything, like great cleave was.
It would be absolute chaos up there trying to get resources, companies going in droves, competition. Fights, pew pew explosions. Lots of fun
Aside from that, i wouldn’t mind seeing corrupted areas in the outskirts that are PVP only zones. They don’t need to be massive either, just pockets of areas like i described before with resources, and conflict.
Surely it could be done on the regular servers, a lot of it really could. I just don’t know if it would be easier for AGS to give us this on regular servers as a small addition, or a new server with PVP on in the white zones.
I’m for either one really.
I see so much potential that could be drug out of contested zones.
They could even give us a pvp island with a faction control point, and some decent nodes, some boss type spawns and other simple things, chests?
Just a contestable area in open world with the perpetual threat of fighting.
