I run light , 5/5 resil, proper gems( pristine diamond and malachite thanks to the new VG mega on Olympus, rip the onyx gems I paid for). It makes you quite tanky. With hale and hearty plus 200 con you have ~13k health in light! If you have physical heavy gear this also makes you have around ~1k armor. Resil is a flat damage percent reduction if an attack crits. The way new world devs decided to calculate it makes it one of the strongest damage mitigation tools in PvP.
Generally games will make crit reduction done to the crit bonus of the damage done. But AGS decided to make it so resilient is flat % reduction done if the attack is a crit.
Full resil grants you %24.5 damage reduction on crits, 150 con gives you another %10( I’m pretty sure this additive to armor resil not sure).
Doing test duels I noticed warhammers with a multiplier of 1.2 on crits do LESS damage than base damage if they crit me. This is in my opinion, a terrible balancing decision. No crit should do less damage than not critting like hello.
Assuming 150 con passive is additive. I now take less damage (barring and passive modifiers in talent trees or vicious) from any crit from any weapons with a 1.3 modifier (which is believe a majority of weapons in the game). This is because I have %34.5 crit damage reduction.
If you crit someone with a 1.3 modifier weapon without vicious you will basically hit for base damage minus -4% because you can do less than base and then minus gem mitigation + resists / fortifies (even common ones from heavy attacking on Ga / wa to one’s self buffed). I generally notice these only hit for about 1.5k to 3k if someone is full glass cannon. And that’s a big dent but when you have close to 13k health in light while still having 300 mainstat you have some ass padding left after getting blasted.
This is easily done for me since I have A 600 gs medium chest with resil and insatiable grav well and light voidbent on all small pieces since I just wanted the resil and strength passives.
Most light players are ranged/ dex or int. And getting high GS rolls with good stats, resil, and desired perks is a lot of money, but likely changing with timeless shards. So generally most don’t have full resil and also many don’t run 150 con for the additional 10 resil. So this is generally why most light players fold up like a lawn chair at the end of a back yard bbq.
My last war I was the lowest death of every melee (6ish deaths)?and had 24ish kills in light. I was on the main team as well as being the only one in light in a crushing defeat where we were spawn camped. Resilience and con passives are that cooked. Run them.
TL;DR if you are in light you want to be in full resil with 150 con minimum if you don’t want to implode.
