Why Are There NO Playable Female Characters?

Indeed, yet understand that some people feel that way {reading between the lines}. – I am personally in the crowd that dislikes how her character looks (and moves).

I’m genuinely amazed at how this post has developed, honestly, it’s rather fascinating watching most of you all attack each other pointlessly, how some of you seemingly delight in trolling each other, how some of you take a political stance and allow your own ideologies bleed through into what should just be a valid bit of feedback.

Edit: typo fixes

It certainly requires a bit of parsing doesn’t it? Yet I do believe the post achieves its goal regardless.

There’s a clear community interest, for whatever variety of reasons perceived. I’m sure it’s been seen, and there is a good deal of what I’d call constructive scattered throughout the thread. It also provides a canvas of how a part of the community feels about the creation system, and characters as they are.

Completely in agreement.

People be people… but both male and female customization is poorly implemented in this game.

Imagine if there were elf’s, dwarfs, orcs, etc (of both genders)… now you know how crappy this customization is…

Also in complete agreement.

Would be interesting to see what other races could be introduced…

Angry Earth looks rather cool an could be a fun player race

Play as corrupted races, even maybe a new faction, suggest this. Sounds like a good expansion in a year or two.

personally, I’m kinda surprised the pvp-pker faction is not the corrupted.

Makes sense from a lore point of view, and could be neat to implement allowing players to opt to play some fun antagonists.

I think I will write up a propper suggestion like you suggest when I get back home, number of the npc factions could be fun to play

I have suggested such a thing in another post… where you can choose what side you are on.

Am I seeing things, or have just become accustomed to the female toon… but has she grown a couple of bumps?

Or is it just this dress?

Oh yes… this is my grandma toon.

The precedent for your suggestion, is Lord of the Rings Online… where (it was/is a PVE only game)… players could play as monsters against other players in a change of pace in a special mode.

FYI - not played much, but that’s because LOTR Online was deployed as PVE only game. Also the monsters aren’t a real option for progression.

Normally I wouldn’t even give posts like this a glance, but I decided to actually read it and the OP does make a compelling argument.
After all, they had to time to add a rainbow lion (puke) and create a pointless “waiting” animation for an emote. They can spend that time adding female animations and clothing.

Let’s hope there are plans to add all these demands in the future (after some of the game-breaking issues have been fixed).

Once they’ve added this stuff they should also add an item (cash shop maybe) for remodelling your character, so that the ladies can look how they really want to.

I think what we are asking for, in regards to the customization options, is not so much to change what exists, but to add more options for those people (myself included) that aren’t happy with the current options.

This is the first mmo in a while that I’ve felt like I had to settle on a particular face or hairstyle. Usually there are enough options that I have to choose between 2 or more that I love the look of. There isn’t one single hairstyle that I really like. There was only one or two that were… ok.

I’m happy that they are trying to take a more inclusive approach to character creation for those people that want and deserve to feel represented, but it seems like in doing so, they also neglected certain other aspects.

It’s difficult to tell what you want the devs to do. If you want them to add distinctly female clothing, then I very much believe it would get a lot of complaints like it does in other MMOs. Seems like a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation for them.

Yeah but the easy thing about that is those are already animals in the game just a recolor. So for them not to have to animate code and redesign or create a whole new enemy the just recolor a lynx and rabbit. So much easier then. Creating a whole new animal.

I’m not trolling. Please say what you mean. You stated that the faces are not really “female” faces, a statement I take exception to, suggesting that instead you mean that they are primarily faces that don’t suit your personal aesthetic of what you want your character to look like.

But you seem to be doubling down on the “not female” thing. Have it your way, and I’ll just assume that you don’t care how your remarks are perceived.

a lot of those same faces, show up when someone picks the “male” bodytype, some are slightly different, but hardly enough to make them distinctly different from the ones showing up for the females. there’s very few faces in either set that aren’t gender neutral? i guess you could say?

I support catering to a female audience too but I think right now there are more critical bugs that need work. Fixing skeletal models and animations is probably quite a bit of work for the artists, and lets face it, 99% of the female characters are men role-playing as women anyway and maybe 1% is actually FEMALE! its a fact trust me… lol. jk but yeah game mechanics before cosmetic changes priorities please.

Really well said. Developers should take a lesson from this post. It’s not wrong to want to be represented accurately and it should be implemented from the start.

I was replying to another poster… showing all the faces that that poster mentioned ‘not liking’…
Yes some of them aren’t what is called attractive, and yes, they are still female.

I was in no way saying that only attractive faces are feminine at all…

There are only a few that are feminine, the others are the same as their male counterparts… So they arent female, and conversely not male… They are non-gender specific…

I will answer no more questions from you as I feel I have MORE than answered them. Especially for such a petty thing.
