Why Are There NO Playable Female Characters?

The character creator obviously sucks and lacks options, people across the board have been saying this since beta, but it’s a massive stretch to claim there are no female characters in the game just because you don’t like the available appearances or the body type or whatever. I do agree they should add more models/styles and other customization options.

When/if they do, they should also let people change their appearance for free.

it’s not a massive stretch, when the “female” body type is the male one, keeping the male movements and stances. all they did was reskin it and add female sounds when hit.

Except for the part where stuff that was in beta was removed or disabled. I already went over this.

LOL, no it’s not. In fact someone mentioned male fitness nerds… guess what, female fitness nerds, especially weightlifters, use a wide stance habitually too. Female police officers, like male officers, are trained to “stand large” to be more intimidating. Etc. And some women just stand that way.

You people don’t get out much.

I get where you’re coming from but I don’t like the way you’re going about it, not-all-women and not-all-men, etc. Feels very biologically essentialist to assign a way of standing or looking to a gender. You can advocate for something without doing this, and I wish there were better aesthetic options that matched how you wanted to look.

The armor in those pics would get you killed though, traditionally the armor would be very similar and there’s plenty of room for boobs to fit in standard plate, and it wouldn’t be form-fitting!

There’s probably better armor in the game and if we had some kind of transmog system or a way to turn the armors we find into skins we can select, it’d be a nice start, and I do like the idea of animation sets, make a wide stance and a more ‘feminine’ one free and add more for $$ like ESO, I’m a healer so I don’t want to stand as if I’m going to beat you down with my lifestaff.

Yes! I play a lot of Survival/RPG games, and even small studios give us a female character most of the time.
I really don’t get why a multibillionaire company didn’t care to do it.

standing like that, unless due to muscle mass, would unbalance anyone male or female. standing at ease is shoulder width apart, having your feet even further than that, would get you in trouble.

oh look at that, not one standing more than shoulder width apart with their feet, shocking. 9 years of military cadets and working with the military and all that fun stuff(it really was fun and i got to do a lot of interesting things). my favourite boots are still the para combats i’ve had since i was 16.

we’re not expecting hyper realism, but again… to have the same reskinned male for supposedly female characters, with all the exact same movements and their stances is the issue. no one has said it must be exactly this or that walk, just that ti should be female… for female characters. that leaves a whole lot to the devs to work with, lower the center of gravity, pattern it from there.

it doesn’t have to be slutty, sultry, overtly sexual, and personally i don’t think those would suit the game at all. i’d think we’d all look like idiots if we pranced around in the various gears like we were on a catwalk in platform 6" heels. if someone wants those exact walks, i could see them adding them to the store sometime, and same with males and the various walks.

i really do not understand how people cannot understand the difference between asking for what we are, and assuming we want some barbie doll, big boobed, chain mail bikini type… when it’s the exact opposite.

people keep bringing up historical shit, if they were following that, there wouldn’t be many female characters even poorly represented as we now are. unless they delved into other cultures besides the mainly european ones.

saying the armour would be this or that, is also a moot point considering the stuff in the store and game already, that would never be worn unless it was for a parade just due to how dangerous it would be in a real battle… no one in their right mind, who wanted to live would wear the aegis or rightious armours. they both have stupid shoulder pieces and one makes the wearer blind, and similar helms also drop in the game.

we can make our own armour from cloth to plate in the game, yet we wouldn’t make anything that would fit a female? but hey, a 3 horned helmet that covers your eyes is totally legit right?

Im actually surprised that you pay that much attention to your character, I am more focused on what I am actually doing in game to pay any attention to all the stuff that you bring up.

well i am spending hours out there killing, harvesting, gathering, fishing etc… my character is in the center of my screen, kinda hard to miss. some focus on their characters, they are an extension of themselves at least in part while they are in the game, others don’t… like my hubby doesn’t care beyond making sure he’s got red or silver hair, and a beard in games… but even he noticed, pointing out that my character looked male etc.

I guess everyone is different, but I think the devs have way bigger issues to address than the way a model moves. There are actual parts of the game that do not work or are severely bugged right now. Those are the things that the majority of the community wants fixed. It is killing the playerbase.

She’s got a point!

I confess that only looking closely or hearing thrle voice that I can figure a female character

those who do character design, are not typically the same ones that would fix the current game issues, which are pretty much all code related issues.

Another thing I noticed of late, Female Armor has reduced stats directly compared to the male version of said armor. Upon noticing this, Both me and my friend were totally put off, not expecting something so sexist to be in a game in 2021.

Armoring level 100, went to craft for a friend and suddenly noticed this:

Silk Robe Pants 88 Mdef 52 armor (Unisex Monk Robe),
Silk Pants (Male) 70 Mdef and armor,
Silk Leggings (Female) 30 Mdef and armor

I can’t see any reason to the female clothes having worst stats, they all require the same type of materials and quanity

Everything has a priority, even if there are different groups handling it. Yeah they should probably improve the character model and the way it moves in the game, but they are just getting to fixing clipping issues with armor. But anyways, im not spending anymore time in this thread, it is a waste of time.

Amazon made a great effort to keep this nonsense out of the discussion entirely during character creation. You choose a body type and a pronoun along with your name. Your actual biology is never mentioned.

For once can we just not worry about gender bs in our video games please. It’s perfect as it is, they are nearly identical and it doesn’t matter at all which you choose. Such a low priority to ask for graphics upgrades in a month old video game imo. The game looks great. It don’t work great. That’s what they need to do first.
