says the guy who continuously insults me with “beta”. You cant insult people that arent insulting you and call them toxic, thats just not how that works. Next.
Also, PvP… Right on the damn about page of the website: About | New World
It’s a PvP and PvE game… That’s the current direction. It is not a primarily PvE game by any stretch of the imagination.
I thought PvP was it’s own rewards? If you want rewards craft or run instances.
Oh you meant epeen tank. Well what are pve players doing flagged? Pretty braindead of them yes? I’ll gladly roll them for free tokens tysm.
But I don’t care who “runs” the server because it does not impact me much and hence why PvP is pointless. It costing me a few more coins for rent or Azoth to travel is not enough reasons for me to bother with PvP in this game because it is simply not much fun. I can just barely stand one or two OPR before I get bored of getting two shotted by the latest flavor of the month DPS build and that is because I run a PvE healer build and there is no mechanism for easily switching from PvP to PvE, so why bother?
Oh, you mean like PvE right? Why do you need any rewards or drops from doing dungeons and raids since you guys just love to only do PvE anyways?
Because the pve side of the game is currently lacking and they want to improve it. Pvp is good enough, the only things wrong with pvp are bugs. New pvp content isn’t currently needed and there’s multiple new weapons coming out soon anyway
I would mostly agree with this. The only real big problem is that the PvP rewards for OPR and such are severely lacking (those boxes suck hard.) AND, I don’t think it would be that hard to create an arena team v team or solo thing that would make it easier for people who just want to do that (I’d like that just to get rid of the people from OPR who can’t seem to figure out what an objective is.)
Ahh yes can’t wait until they release new weapons before actually play testing them against current builds in the game, and hardly making sure each passive skill functions at all. Will be a player count killer for sure.
They do open world PvP. People on my server love fighting over forts more than they love wars, and forts aren’t even true OWPvP since they cap each faction at 25 players. Saying there doesn’t need to be incentive in game that requires so much grind isn’t true though. People have limited time. Would anyone be running the dungeons if they didn’t get loot from them? Doubtful. Even weirder is OWPvP is drastically more rewarding pre-60 than it is at 60. That’s great for promoting sub-60 flagging, but it really gets weird once you hit 60 and lose most the benefits. Even the gathering luck bonus is obsolete in the face of aptitude chests.
The combat (and gameplay) isn’t rewarding enough on its own to merit unrewarded gameplay. Unfortunately, NW devs choose to continually create “forced” activities to promote decent character progression, rather than letting players focus on the fun part without FOMO.
Sorry if the truth hurts partner. Reality is a rough pill at times.
This is a false narrative. I played the full open world PVP version. It was so oppressive and depressing that AGS had to change direction or scrap the whole game. Yeah, they have done a poor job of it. If you are going to quote history as an argument, get it right.
Lol, what a reply. What are you even taking about? The truth hurts? What? What truth?
WHAT?
Are you not enjoying the:
Uh… I need 3 bananas… Run across the map to fetch some and then comback…
quests?
Or the challangning PvE fights where you either leftclick till you kill something or you have to stand in a zerg to kill the “boss” that run around randomly and 1 shoot people…
1 in 10 people flag for open world content. Thats why pve content dominates.
Yes, call of duty is easy to pick up, difficult to master & takes more skill to perform at the top tiers of performance than literally any other game in existence. The nature of the fast-paced respawn in small maps & fast time to kill/inherent balance of everything being good make that so. Yes, there is no game that takes more skill & precision & quick thinking than call of duty in order to perform at the top of the masses, regardless of any cheese noobs figure out in any given iteration. To say anything otherwise means you are terrible at it or do not play it & thus, in both cases, do not know what you are talking about, automatically. Anyone who is even half-decent at call of duty knows it & knows when someone else does not know it, that easily, every time.
You could say that about any competitive game really. Doesn’t prove that call of duty takes more skill than an mmo. Sure you need skill to get to the top, but that has nothing to do with comparing the two.
A skilled cod player, for example, will take damage when facing an opponent if they start attacking each other at the same time.
A skilled mmo player, such as in New world will take very little damage vs an average player. For example, go watch a 1vx video of a skilled new world player. A pro cod player won’t be able to go 1vx like these players in New world. There are so many decisions these guys are making in seconds. While in cod it’s just about reflexes and accuracy.
Also. Cod isn’t even the most difficult fps. I’d argue quake due to extreme speed, or rust for the unforgiving recoil patterns that will take you hundreds of hours to master.
PvE players don’t understand, so I simplify it for them, New World is based on a war for territories, The goal of the game is to keep control of those territories for your faction (Syndicate, Marauders, Covenant) this is known as “Metagaming”, If the metagaming is based on PvP, what determines the result of the meta will be the PvP players, they will fight the wars, defend influence and determine the strength of a faction.
As this game is action combat, the gear helps you to be stronger but it is not decisive to win fights, that is why we see that lvl 50 players beat lvl 60 players without problems since they are better at playing that is because they have skills that they acquire doing pvp constantly.
PvE players are important to have a crafter in your company or to get resources for others, that would be the best but it is never like that. In addition, PvP players always seek to have the best equipment and weapons, that’s why we have the leveled professions and we can craft just like you PvE players.
So why play? if you are not going to change anything in the essence of the game, if you are not going to contribute anything in a game that pve is designed only to be better in PvP, the game is PvP otherwise the basis of this game would not be THE FIGHT FOR THE DOMINANCE OF TERRITORY BETWEEN FACTIONS. Or maybe I’m wrong and metagaming is having the most beautiful house!
Because PVP is broken in this game and is a core piece of the game so you can’t just rip it out. What else can they do but find other ways to make the game interesting?
