I enjoy the game despite the bugs & issues. It provides me with some level of entertainment. The visuals and sounds are amazing. I do personally feel the dev team is doing their best, and the game is still in its infancy so there are going to be growing pains along the way.
I feel that I’ve got my money’s worth (based on the $1/hr playtime principle), and plan to put more in. I don’t have much free time so I can’t sink in 8-12 hours a day.
Some level of Sunk cost fallacy as someone mentioned above but for a different reason
Since mid-November (somewhere around 1.0.4), I’ve been tracking bugs on a Trello board because I despise the “dev tracker” functionality. It’s not easy to track things long-term, likely by design. I started tracking because I wanted to visualize progress on bugs/issues and to demonstrate work is actually being done by the dev team. They’ve made some great progress in a short amount of time, but no one sees this because their bugs aren’t being fixed in a timely fashion.
Since starting the first board I linked above, I’ve made a couple of other boards, including tracking PTR bugs and a Roadmap based on the dev videos, data mining, forum posts, etc.
I think this game has potential still, and I’m interested to see where it goes. There are several other titles coming out soon though (AoC for one has my eye), so time is of the essence.
This is a bad suggestion. That game is true p2w and not friendly towards new players. People easily drop 3k+ USD on erenor gear sets just to be competitive and buy accounts left and right. The community is extremely toxic and won’t hesitate to “doxx” you if they can.
If you do play it, fresh starts are always the better option. But they die after 1-2 months.
Used to play for a few hours each day, gave the game a red hot go (still think it has potential, if player numbers survive), but recently have lost interest. So over the past week or so I just log in to do my asmo cooldowns etc, might play a couple of OPR’s to get the gypsums and thats about it. My friends cant get into wars, the bots are ruining our server, questing is pointless once at level 60, and QoL things like responsive weapon swaps have made it too frustrating for me (I play FS/IG and I have to hit the change weapon key about 4 times before it swaps!, not to mention the fact that the damage output from this combo is pretty trash right now).
If they address the above, and more, im most likely going to get back into it heavily, but otherwise im finding the game quite dull at the moment (I think a decrease in game-time might help me, I hope).
I’m waiting for Lost Ark and have some sliver of hope that the Development team will actually try to fix bugs/de-sync issues/balance weapons and armors … and listen to their players. Maybe this game will be worth picking up in a year or two if it survives that long.
I only logon to do faction quests, doing skygong at ebonscale to get my 10 topaz and 3 obsidian gypsum’s and mabye 1-2 OPR games which i usually get spawn camped or lose.
Other then that there’s not much of an insentive to play, can’t progress the story because no-one does depths so can’t get the T4 azoth staff, not paying 1.5k for a slot either.
My answer: #1 Point - because of our guild and to help them #2 Fun in PVP Fights #3 To also bring Rings Amulette on 590 too, with daily gips… (it sucks, but still a lot better than in the past)
else i really have no point. i would be totaly fine to stop playing until a big new update would come out. 6/10 Items are Legendary and the Rest is 595 + with my wish Perks and Stats
But in defense of the game… I played a lot of it ~1000hrs and casual player would have a lot longer stuff to do then i have
I invest so much and grind a lot that is why I feel like I have to play. My play time dropped so much tho.
Tbh I am waiting the game to die so I can leave it in peace
I play New World, right now, for the PvE and the potential in the game, assuming it goes in the right direction.
Portals could be a gateway to some pretty interesting instanced content.
Weapon skills could be expanded to have more support skills, for example from armor pieces or jewelry.
Expeditions could be much more interesting if they were better tied to portals and arena bosses.
Open world elite areas could be more interesting if they properly scaled with Zergs.
PvP, and this is the toughest one and the part I enjoy the least, could be more fun if it was more focused on tactics than DPS and the territory control expanded to be more dynamic and inclusive and not just tied to 50v50 Wars which happen only a couple of times per day and include only a fraction of the playerbase.
That being said, with 400+ hours spent on the game, the content is running stale…
Coming from WoW I find New World so much more enjoyable and it still looks stunning. Love being in that world and preparing myself for future content by leveling up all skills and getting better at the game. I play mainly PvE solo and love it. Love making gear sets for all kind of builds and collecting stuff. The game is good and there is potential for it to be great.
At this point I’m basically waiting for melee desync fixes and weapon balance patches, waiting for new weapons like blunderbuss and greatsword, waiting for additional pvp modes that aren’t zerg rushes and more focused on individual play like arenas.
Even with all the problems this game has I still like this game and the potential it can reach. In the first 3 weeks of launch my faction had a civil war. Then we had a company hellbent on kicking the faction off the map to the point we’d quit the game. Instead the faction united n clapped them. Then we had a second civil war a few months later.
Doing the end content ain’t so bad, I like grindy games always have. I bet later expeditions will be fun to do too. Though I wish to see matchmaking instead of what we have right now. I get the crafting of the tuning orb is a pain in the ass, but 2.5kg to end game dungeons I think is dogshit. Nothing personal. N sure I can just craft the orb n do it myself for free, but I rather just have matchmaking.
I mainly went after this game for the PvP but it disappointed me so very hard. I thought war was going to be well, “War” Instead it’s 50 v 50 rush skirmishes. Invasion is fun but folks foam at the mouth if you suggest or do anything different. Most of the time its just gated by company. Opr is pretty funny to play. Open PvP is where it gets fun. Laggy sometimes but chaotic.
I’m still playing this game because I enjoy the game regardless. I want to see Guild halls. But not standard, buy n have. I want the freedom to pick a spot anywhere in Aternum n have to build it from the ground up with the company. I wanna see the ability for PvE’rs to do trade by pulling trade carts from 1 city to another. n PvP convoys of mats ect. I think this game can go places.
I get the invisible walls AGS but honestly I think eternal pool arena would look so much cooler with the actual pool surrounding the area n floating parts of rock. But I’d understand if they end up patching this spot. It’s a crack in the invisible wall we found by accident while wanting to free climb the mountain around Eternal Pool. But look at this place? Through the mountain looks gorgeous!
I enjoy the harvesting, working towards things via the grind, I enjoy mindlessly wondering around and killing everything, I enjoy the pvp, I enjoy the dungeons, I enjoy the community, I like the combat system (even though it has flaws), and I like how the game looks…I just like the game.
Hell, I’m liking the drama currently going on with Oceana atm. Basically yellow vs anti-yellow…and their persistence due to how stacked their company is…regardless of how outnumbered they are. It’s fun…and it makes the server entertaining.
Only dislikes would be the time gate of dungeons and the elite zergs. Also not a fan of competing with level 60 bots for resources, for sure not a fan of competing with this obvious group of bots…that also harvest and collect. All in a specific company, with similar names (company also being part of their names), and the blatant ignoring of them that AGS does. Also being forced to reload the game after an OPR or dungeon gets annoying.
I log on, do OPR until i get my gypsum, crafting dailys then log of. just maintenance until the game becomes bug free. That’s what grinds my gears the most, not content, the bugs.
I play every day and have since launch. I’m level 55. Taking my time still have lots of PvE things to do. I won’t stop until I have completed all of the achievements for PvE in the game. And at some point will partake in some PvP probably after many months of reaching level 60 and get much better gear.
