I know this has been talked about before but have there been any official statements on corrupted portals?
What I mean is that the current way to do them is to just get enough people and then just faceroll them all for minimal challenge, which is just boring.
Instead portals should be portals to instances with a cap on how many can enter. Once the cap has reached then another instance is created and once an instance is successfully cleared or a fixed number of instances have been created, whichever comes first, then the portal closes.
That way, doing portals can be actually challenging and only imagination and creativity sets the limit for what can happen inside of portal instances. They could be like mini-expeditions or like arena orbs.
due to the game breaking desire of our newer demographic, I think the devs would probably do better to avoid such a move as there would be large groups of people with a singular goal of “what happens if everyone enters the portal at once?” if your talking about games that utilizes the actual portal algorithm to allow players to gain access to other locations instantly in live action; aside from obvious copyright lawsuit reasons… unless its within a loaded area relatively close by there is always going to be a loading screen because your graphics processor couldn’t possibly render the entire island all at once which is why portal had to divide itself into individual missions/levels. it is a great concept though and the devs did mention a small pvp arena, this could also be a pve horde mode arena later on for players that want a different challenge. as for the portal asthetics there is already a number of games that have portals so there is very little that can be done in the ways of design that wouldn’t set off some copyright alerts. so amongst all the stuff they have done right and wrong I just dont really complain about this as an issue especially when I’ve already compiled a large number of complaints into one page where people can vote on which should be focused on the most as the top priority.
