Why bother play NW as a PVX MMO when PvP and PvPers ONLY decide on combat?

Many posters here are trolls and supporters of other games like the AoC scam and they try to poison the conversation in order to confuse AGS with feedback and persuade them to mess up NW even more.

Many of them are the same cry babies wanting AGS to nerf the bow because they can’t stand seeing a fun weapon in NW.

Lel I played FF solely for highend content and am a 99+ logger.
The vast majority of FF players can’t barely bring enough dps to clear normal content. It’s a game for casuals and utter tryhards. There’s no real in between unless the 2 ex trials per half a year, but even those overburden the vast majority of the community.
I freaking love FFXIV, don’t get me wrong. I think it’s a fantastic game.

But just like Fuil loot PvP is something not many want. The same way people don’t want highend raiding content. Most just think they do xd.
Even decent groups of not nolifers take several months to clear savage in FF. Spamming the same raid hundreds of times to pass it.
It’s not something a lot of people are willing to do.

And I’ve never said people don’t want raids. Lost Ark has pretty easy and basic raids(besides 1) and it works. Even casual players can get through those. Yet also fun for tryhard early clearers.

As Cope says right above you. Highend content is mainly run by PvP players for gear.
Just like in WoW or FF it is to “shit” on other players via logs.

I agree that those 3 things are the most requested ones. And I hope we get all of those sooner than later. I’m not against raids or sth lol

And @CopeYum
Only because you think a 3rd weaponslot would be great for NW doesn’t mean others think so aswell.
For me it sounds absolutely terrible. NW is already too hackn slash for the type of game it should’ve been. Pretty sure people would rather see NW as a Elden Ring type game and not a Devil May Cry one lol

Elden ring is dead. Look at the percentage of the people who completed all the bosses, most of them quit early and bought the game because of hype and streamers. Souls games are known to have a niche community.

Dude Elden Ring is a almost year old solo rpg offline game with still a comparable playerbase to a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER online game called New World 2 weeks ago lol
You can’t be serious, Elden Ring wasn’t hype. It was good asf

It has PvP and replay ability via classes yet nobody bothers with Elden ring abymore.

Why would you use the argument of look at all the players who complete all the bosses? The only people who would use that argument are people who barely played elden ring. Reason being 50% of the bosses in elden ring are optional or hidden.

The dragon lord is almost impossible to find unless you know what you are looking for. Saying people didn’t beat all the bosses is an absolutely terrible argument because the game purposely hid the hardest bosses. You can’t even get to Melania unless you complete a hidden quest then go thru several hidden zones.

More people play Elden Ring than New World.

Elden Ring is a multiplatform game and its PC version alone competes with New World.

Furthermore, Elden Ring barely has had any updates over the past year compared to New World’s many many updates.

It’s ok to not like it, but don’t lie about it.

We are comparing apples with bananas. Traditionally mmorpg fans are not into Elden ring type games and vice versa. For the most part. Simply look at charts and data, twitch stream hours and who watches what.

I do agree that PvE combat is so horrible but it isn’t that we need more skills…

what we need is to not allow certain weapons to completely nullify 90% of the mechanics, leading to the entire scenario of just mouse button spamming

little things like

  • remove 1-hand/hatchet cleave. Only allow two hander heavy attacks able to cleave
  • make more npcs immune to stun (change to an interrupt effect), and/or give CC immunity after 1 stun
  • Give mages /dex users more utility
  • Don’t allow rend applied by melee weapons to stack - allow stacking when applied by a different weapon type/bucket (magic vs physical vs life)
  • improve AI of npcs in general - I can beat on a skeleton’s head in laz for 10 hours while it stands and looks at me, all because I’m on a pebble that confuses the hell out of it

The game can be engaging and fun - and more like a dark souls play style, but players are able to nullify mechanics far too much.

Bring back the third weapon slot in PVE only BUT with a twist.

A better compromise would be to limit 2H/1H weapons to a max of 2 per weapon type.

cope your trolling is usually fun, but I’ma have to stop you right here w the whole traditional mmo crowd vs elden ring.

it really doesn’t matter if traditionalists would not like elden ring style mmo it was a new hook to the genre that has appeal to a different potentially larger audience by far compared to traditional mmo combat model.

it’s also pointless to argue about pve combat model because again that is not where the bulk of the playerbase in mmos come from, it comes from casual world players who just want to live in the world.

you could have brutal soulsborne combat gameplay AND give every pve player their own personal animal crossing island and a solid public housing/storefront system and this would be the most popular mmo on the planet because it would be non-VR metaverse game which is literally how most casuals approach mmos

Care to provide real life examples from existing games?

ff14 who do you think the bulk of that games player base is? now how many you think care one lick about the latest job changes or the newest ultimate raid drop?

2% at best even the game director who’s old school ultima fan and had his entire team play wow to rebuild their game from the disaster that was 1.0 intentionally makes high end pve content that’s meant to be played in clips of 2 mo intervals followed by long unsubs.

the roleplayers, housing players, collectors and gambas playing in the casino drive that games sub revenue yr round.

FFXIV xd
Lost Ark also does it with the housing system
@Kolkhara this is all 100% on point
Elden Ring has been souch a massive success because it allowed for casuals to also enjoy it. Choose their own difficulty. Yet be part of the whole thing.

And in mmo’s it’s not much different. All those people which are online in FF between the patches all live their lifes in there. They have their statics, guilds, houses, gardens, parties. It becomes their own identity.

As you mention ultimate raids, highly doubt it’s even 1% of the total playerbase even attempting these. I’d estimate less than 5% even passes 3rd savage raid within the first 2-4months. Maybe 8% tries the 1st one.

Let’s see when all that is added to NW how it fares in comparison.

given the sheer stunning visuals the game world can provide i think this game has the potential to be an amazing sandbox for the casual and roleplayer if given the proper tools.

how there isn’t pirate dens, bar wenches, peddlers, beggars, thieves and everything in bw in this game is just a complete missed opportunity.

I have enjoyed NW since before it launched. I was lucky to get into Alpha early on and have been in love with the combat style ever since. For me, I enjoy the simplicity of the 2 weapons and 3 ability system. Granted, the game has been far from perfect since launch, but with every update we see more and more improvement, for me that is enough to stay loyal and keep enjoying everything they are doing. I may be in the minority of those who still play, but of those I game with I know they stay for the same reasons I do, so that’s good enough for me.

If you aren’t enjoying it, then I wish you well and hope you find something you can enjoy.

:beers:

one of the most diplomatic if you don’t like it, leave posts I’ve seen so +1 for cordialness

That’s why my mates and I are curious how they will approach the game after the Brimstone release.
Since all of this here is basically just what they had planned a year ago. I mean brimstones was “discovered” like what? First month into the game. So they just finish now what they started likely pre-release. We care more about that than the update itself

If the community and sales go up soon, the game could become absolutely massive for the next decade if they invest the finances into it.

This game has so much potential to go from here it’s insane. Even like own private Islands you could visit from Dynasty Shipyard to your friends and stuff would probably hold tons of players.
But they need to adjust their pace. It’s rly all too slow. So who knows if they might not drop the thing in like 6months since the Amazons name has been restored and they simply move on

Brimstone and then the home of the ancients (huge forest zone next to mourningdale) were in alpha 3. If they keep to the alpha 3 leaked zones and updates, then the homeland of the ancients - the big forest zone connected to mourningdale would be next.

The lore is this is where all the most powerful and oldest of the ancients retreated to when the corruption started spreading down south from up north. Also seems like the perfect zone to introduce their first raid.
