Okay so arenas being totally rng and not balanced at all is super cool right?
most games the arena is supposed to be the competitive type of PvP yet arena is the least competative in the game entirely. There is no rank. no role queue no balancing of any kind. just a casual mode that most people sign up to for daily gypsum and thats it.
I think ags should really revisit arena and show it some love because right now its a friggin joke.
Or just permit gear swap and carry a heavy antiheal build
Pretty sure there a heartrune coming for it too. But ye wo gear swap in arena is just dice roll if youre specced to deal with it or not
Takes an eternity to gear swap and respecc tho. thats not a viable sollution for arenas at all. and anti heal is a joke since the disease cap is 50% that aint gonna do anything to double lifestaff.
The only way to beat double lifestaff is to kite around and stall out the match untill the healing effects are reduced enough you can out dps their healing. Its such a boring match and a gross oversight by ags who continously neglect all forms of pvp in this game.
They should just buff the plagued perks, so you can switch to an anti-healer weapon if you want.
It would be an easy solution.
Wonder how 3v3 would be if heals from life staff were disabled. (or life staff disabled fully.
You can still heal from pots etc but no life staff

as much as i wish i could say nw is “competitive” its not because of imbalance in weapons. a game could only have competitive pvp is if everyone is on same playing field. like think of csgo or valorant everyone has access to same loadout etc thats the only way it can be competitive.
mmos will never be able to achieve true “competitive” due to imbalance and meta changes.
if they were able to do a pvp mode where everyone has same gear / gs / loadouts. potentially could be “competitive” but then it kind of would destroy the reason to grind for bis.
they do need to update pvp maps and arena forsure though i see what ur saying.
Thats just not true tho. A part of the competitive side of mmo pvp is actually gearing up as well. It’s no ESPORTS level competitive no, because of certain imbalances.
But you dont need full bis to stay competative in pvp. I rock purples mostly always and do just fine against people in bis gear.
Role queue would create a natural balance in team composition and that is the aspect which is currently borked making opr and arena totally dogwater
Some of these mmos remind me of self sabotage with regards to pvp…
They make pvp just an absolute mess, like eso - 3 team ghetto chaos with no strategy whatsoever and then they say they dont produce more pvp content because not enough of their playerbase queues for the pvp…
Its like if the pvp was fricken good then people would pvp!!

I don’t think they need role queue they just need to fix lifestaff once and for all. No weapon should completely dominate every instance of PvP just by placing AoEs and tab-targets.
VG, BB, disease, and the new heartrune were invented to counter healers. Heavy armor, rapier, and light armor were nerfed to counter healers. Like, at what point are they just going to address the core issue instead of dancing around it and messing with everything else?
Arena with healer is a total snoozefest at best, and griefing at worst. I’ve seen stacks run heavy armor flamethrower with healers and three ice pylons to block melee and projectiles, and then just spam showers while running around the pillar the entire time. Once the fire closes it’s gg, because it’s basically nerfed LS versus no healing, and they can chip you down with pylons and flamethower.
It is marginally better now that rapier was nerfed.
I’ve had arena games with almost 500k damage. That’s just ridiculous and not fun for anyone involved. Except the healers, I guess, since they wouldn’t be queueing arena with LS unless they enjoyed ruining it for everyone else.
I sincerely hope that, with cross server, they implement some form of ranking for match making for OPR and 3v3; this would just run silently in the background and match you with players of similar ability/gear (mainly results but strongly biased by gear initially; and the rating is recorded live, not at the end/start of the game - every kill, damage, damage taken, death, is matched against the gear you wear at the time and so your rating is based on that and the enemy you’re hitting/getting hit by). I actually think that would increase the number of players taking part by a very large margin (and I don’t need to go into the reasons why).
More maps for both modes would be amazing. And, actually, some form of solo PVP mode (i.e. death match) where there everyone just gets to select their gear at re-spawn/start, from a set list of gear sets that you can build over time as you progress through a ranking/reward system. But it’s all essentially the same gear we all get to choose. None of the sets are healing, as it’s solo PVP.
I don’t think toxic means what you think it does.
Honestly not a huge fan of a ranking system simply because of how bad PvP is balanced. It’d turn casual PvP modes into war where everyone abuses every little exploit.
I mean most people don’t even realize there was ANOTHER hatchet bug last patch that gave you infinite berserk + let you perma root people.
Sorry I wasn’t clear there, I should have said match making. So the point of the ranking system is match making, that’s it. I didn’t mean some ladder (which we’re already getting, so brace yourself for that). It just silently places you against and with similarly skilled players. If someone exploits then… well they just get ranked against harder opponents.
Cross server allows this to happen (it cannot happen now due to limited player pools). It’s my belief that unfair matching is the primary killer of casual PVP. And I am 100% sure that the number of players who simply don’t bother due to that reason is uncountable. I’d even suggest that simply adding proper match making without crossplay would serve to increase participation but it probably wouldn’t be enough to allow match making to work properly. Definitely not on quiet servers.
And so cross server is the practical first step that must be realised before that can happen. I just hope they do it and don’t just stop at cross server. All that’ll achieve is being introduced to more whales from other servers. And seal clubbing will probably be worse, with just slightly less of wait between stomps.

Same problem in OPR, very toxic to kill someone who uses life staff and rapier in light with shirking fortifications… takes foreverZz
That’s why they coming out with the diseased hearthstone… but I feel more can be done such that it’s not just 25% but 50% or even 75%… else make them stack to 100%.
I just wish they’d shorten the startup time by half. But increase time between rounds by like 10s
Because pvp is bottom priority. Don’t expect that to change anytime soon.
