Then you ought to have worded your comment in the above format when you replied directly at one of my posts accusing me of being the one that ignored your thoughts. ie “Once again you ignored the fact…” were your words.
Any comment related at a person needs to be clear and concise so as to not cause insult where none was intended.
Back on track, the topic is heating up, let us both waste no more time when we could both be reading or playing.
Yah the topic is heating up cuz mfers are tired of the way Amazon is handling new world. It most definitely had big potential but they are just letting it ruin away with inexperienced developers.
Probably the devs do care but the suits dont. Ever since its become the industry standard to release half-baked unfinished products just to test the waters and get the cashflow going, banking on future patches depending on the initial influx of players we as players have been taking the fomo hook line and sinker everytime. Just look at the amount of feedback fromt his failed event, people were actually anxious and looking forward and had huge expectations. Its almost as if gamers have the memory of goldfish. The game was broken on release, has always been broken ever since and now we expect perfection.
Yeah, nah, thats not gaming in 2023. Aslong as we keep buying into hype and fomo this is the gaming landscape we can expect from now on. Even now people come on here daily raving about soon to release titles and how great they are going to be. Newsflash, expect exactly the same we got here, buggy, unfinished, half-baked over-hyped junk. The devs are probable not to blame, I mean you cant tell me they looked at the game upon release and thought “yeah this is good enough”, its more than likely corporate who told them to just release and patch the F out of it later because they need to see cashflow. Anytime you see a big company backing or releasing a title you can asure yourself that from now on its going to be a sh!?show. Only very few exceptions to this rule. It is what it is.
Whilst I agree 100% with you I still get enjoyment from it so I am here through thick and thin.
Until I find another game that holds my attention as much as this one then its a long haul for me. It’s a marathon and not a sprint to the finish.
Thankfully other than the original game cost I have put no real money into this game. It is the only game I have ever did that with. Not that I played many other games. Only 2, 1 for 10 years and the other is almost 14 years.
AGS are obviously not overly concerned with profit in the creation of new world imho.
I’m just so massively disappointed in this entire update. Had a great start of the week for dyna, got all gear setup with gems… and now this… good luck in reaching any brain in the dev team, I’m sure somewhere there exists some deep down in an unpaid intern who doesn’t get to say how stupud the entire dev team is.
Are you seriously that poor, that you cant afford 8 gems worth less than 2k gold. I cant believe you make a forum post crying about 2k gold. Sure game has a lot of flaws, but this for once was a long needed fix.
People are so cheap. holy…
Oh yah ? So u think dps can slot both nature and void gems and not die yah good luck. As a matter of fact go ahead do that m10 dps wise and link the video here since u think it’s that easy
The problem is they did it one day into a rotation instead of when they initially planned to do it (i.e. on 21st, which would have been on day one of the rotation).
That’s annoying. It’s not the end of the world, just five wasted gems (and only briliant for me, because I don’t need 5x pristine to get close to 50% anyway). It’s just annoying though. Tell us you’re going to fix it on the next rotation. That would be 100% fine and considerate.
I’ve not tried dynasty yet. But no way I’m going to bother if it has two different elements. I guess that’s a bug. I’m not that bothered by that personally. But the lack of thought about applying this fix midway through a rotation is annoying.
Not helped by the other changes in this update either. Locked gear is now a nightmare to work with storage.
Whilst it does say the mutations are randomised in the GUI, this isn’t something a player is going to notice when they literally haven’t been doing that for months.
A player who joined the game on FSS or with the launch of Brimstone would not have any clue that it was going to switch ever unless they read the small tooltip info in the mutation page and then questioned why it wasn’t actually rotating. We all know it’s been bugged because we’ve been around long enough to know that.
He wasn’t stupid at all to do that. Until today, that’s how it’s been for a huge number of players. For almost six months! Why wouldn’t they consider using runeglass? I’m sure he’s not the only person who thought it was worth it given the gems never changed. And more to the point, why is runeglass even in the game if we cannot use it for mutations, hmm?
Is that sensible game design? I think runeglass should allow us to socket in any gem we like, retaining the casing but destroying the gem. But that’s just too sensible. Much better if runeglass be invalid for literally any content except PVP.
It’s not his fault he didn’t read a single tooltip and question why it’s not working that way. It’s crap game design made worse by a bug that didn’t get corrected for almost half a year. He just got unlucky that he chose this week to do this. And yeh, he’ll pay for it without your judgement, mate.
The question still remains whether the change was intentional or not. In both cases, one or two lines explaining why would be very interesting.
Or GENERALLY a statement as to whether the mutations should alternate or NOT. (meaning the elemental type, not the specialities herefrom)
I’m a little pissed off, not because of a few hundred gold for the gems or that I’ve prepared a shield with nature protection and angry earth, but more with the time wasted completely in preparing myself.
Unfortunately, I have to assume from experience that nobody thought about the mutation change and if so, it didn’t matter. … and we probably only get the statement “we will forward it”.
… where, when last time a small patch was made on a Wednesday, the mutations stayed the same.
This is very likely related to the update they made, so someone probably figured internally “hey this has been the same for a while, let’s implement it now”
“Fixed a bug that caused Mutated Expeditions to receive the same elemental Mutations more often than intended.”
If they’d released this week’s update on time (21st) it may not have been too much of an issue. That would have coincided with the rotation starting fresh. All good.
This didn’t happen. Someone, somewhere, didn’t think about this and go “guys, maybe we should hold off on this change until we can do it in a timely manner?”
Or they did and management just said “nah”.
It’s not a huge deal. It’s just annoying. It cost me 5 gems. Not the end of the world. But it wasn’t necessary.
What it does do very well is highlight how silly this whole system really is though. The idea we have to swap out gems for content is made even more ridiculous now we have very expensive runeglass that we basically cannot use at all in any gear we may want to use for mutations.
I really just don’t think AGS fully grasp just how arbitrary all of this feels to actually navigate as a player. Forget gear sets for a moment… that’ll potentially only paper over cracks of this system that actively punishes you for choices you make in gear progression. At the end of the day, the only interesting thing about mutations is the mechanical effects of that mutation. I largely think these are positive and challenging. But this stupid concept of needing to swap out gems each week that aggressively punishes you for just wanting to use a set of gear for anyting else at all…
Like, it’s not strategy is it? You just have to do it. It just stops you taking stupid amounts of damage. But it’s just an added cost that forces you to basically not do fun stuff because you need to swap gems out… Or you have to have another 5 sets of gear to compensate for it.
Just so we can be edgy and savvy enough to know that ruby is good versus fire, yay.
