I don’t understand why people want fresh servers and a wipe. You have invested your time into leveling. Just ban and remove the gold from dupes and move on.
I spent that long working on my 591 watermark Im not doing it again.

Amazon just shadowbanned me from making new topics on this forum without a single word because of a completely unoffensive, HONEST post about how bad this game is. But there is a guy who told me to kill myself running around free.

because they won’t perma ban the exploiters (“dindu nuffin”) and it will be too much work to follow the trail of duped gold/items to decide which can be removed and which was earned honest.
ppl dont trust that AGS will actually do anything against the offenders.
Someone said you can create unlimited accounts through family share. Don’t know if that’s true.
Easier said than done. If the duped items create new item IDs in the database like they do in other games, there’s no way to differentiate the duped stuff from legit items. And at such a huge scale, this is most likely irreversible.
This is why you don’t make MMOs client authoritative. I know that word is thrown around here a lot, but that is the direct reason.
There are semi-wipes they could do to reset the economy but not completely reset the progress players have done. The issue is some exploits like Hatchet have affected ALL aspects of the game and player progression.
I don’t think there is a win-win solution at all, but even once bugs are fixed, not changing anything in terms of some level of wipe, would ruin the future of the game’s economy. They should of disabled trading when they first got reports of the first gold dupe.

Because you can’t actually remove the gold – it’s been laundered now and is out there in the economy in other player’s pockets, or in the form of gear or what have you. It’s not like the gold that was duped is all sitting in one pile somewhere that can be easily deleted. It’s spread everywhere now, even to players who had nothing to do with the duping, and that spread has a completely distortive effect on the economy.

First of all the client authoritative application you are talking about is not client authoritative, they attempted to address this in a post in lamens terms. However, the real cause is most likely due to the software pattern required to make a game like this run and the window handler (HWND).
Secondly, there are other methods that the AGS will be exploring rather than doing a wipe, as a wipe is against the majority’s interests and would be detrimental to AGS and most of the data in question is likely on a linker table considerably reducing the time AGS needs to find offenders.

Just like I don’t expect you to understand the multifaceted realm of game optimization and the windows handler I don’t expect you to research the issue, Microsoft published an article only 6 months ago further highlighting ways in which applications can hang, and as outlined in the post by AGS, 99% of the time it is the user interface that causes the issues.
Regardless of what your profession is, AGS was transparent in the least technical way possible.
People are dumb. I dont want rollbacks or to lose gold, levels, or anything. They just need to ban the exploiters and remove everything that was duped.

The thing is, that could mean removing your gold and/or items. None of us knows for sure that the items they sold weren’t bought using duped gold or that the items we bought aren’t duped.
I’m not saying that a wipe is needed. I hope it’s not but if i’m going to compete with hundreds of accounts which maxed their skills on exploits and duped resources, i don’t stand a chance.
Fingers crossed some middle ground is found but on a positive note, people who bought money from RMT goldsellers would lose it to a wipe and that kind of makes me happy

Stop making excuses. “You don’t understand” isn’t gonna fly here. We understand perfectly: Amazon made a bad decision in the overall design of this game and we’re seeing the consequences.
