That is where it went south. Everything does not have to be right or wrong, black or white, 0 or 1 or them vs. us!!
Most of the time, most things are shades of grey.
The end of my opening post stated:
āMaybe I am wrong and hope to be proved wrong, but so far I have not seen it. Compared to other MMORPGs that advertise as PvP/PvE, how does it compare?ā
It existed in an effort to negate posters like you, but clearly, it failed.
I disagree, the PvE is actually challenging (expeditions) and some of the mobs with shields are a pain. Granted Iām a light armored spear / bow so thatās probably why PvE is harder at times.
For me, the world PvP is the worst part of the game so I have PvP off most of the time because I seldom encounter a fight thatās remotely fair. Occasionally, you get the fun 1 v 1 but usually itās pairs, trios, etc so why should I bother with that? Iām most looking forward to Outpost Rush for PvP and hopefully they have some sort of arena mode in the works.
Sorry mate but ESO has some of the most āsoullessā open world ever aside from the quests
The mobs stand in groups of 3 and you just mow them all down in packs and they barely even pat
They basically also have portals
Then you get to run into some open world dungeons just to grab a sky shard and nothing else happens aside from some still mobs looking into each otherās eyes
Yeah, what bothers me about the PvE is the repetition, and the low level of flavor to the quests.
The quests feel almost as bad as WoW quests, and Iām coming off of the āhighā of ESO questing.
They have the ability to make challenging mobs, but the mob repetition is just annoying. This all feels like a ādeadline crunchā issue.
The PvP feels like they tried to put a MOBA into an MMO - and to be that isnāt mixing chocolate into my peanut butter, thatās mixing in gasoline. Itās just⦠not right.
But I get the basic model - on the surface it is a lot like the āworld vsā worldā or GW2 and the tri-faction PvP of ESO - but these are both contained apart from the PvE which lets them be explored out in full PvP glory and the PvE out in full PvE glory without either upsetting the other.
What are you talking about? itās not about opinion, itās about easily verifiable fact. He was talking about Champion points. Champion Points came out in May 2015, the game released in April 2014.
That is almost a full year, so his comments are wrong.
This is what is wrong with America today. Everyoneās opinions are worth more than objective fact. But thatās wrong.
@Mughug
PvE i this game is sandbox at its finest. Forget the quests as a requirement, as they give you a few coin and some exp, and go do what you want. Everything gives you at least a little experience. If you shoot a turkey, you get some exp. If you grind mobs for hours, get exp. Cut down a tree, get exp. Leveling isnāt the issue. Thereās plenty of PvE activities to do. Gather, explore, create a Company, craft, kill zombies, go hunting, fish, or play house. Just donāt expect that PvE is going to be the end-all be-all of NW. It is primarily a PvP game. Like GW1, the PvE aspect is to merely level and provide some instruction to use your skills when you finally flip the toggle.
Having said that, I do understand why you are frustrated. I do think you should keep in mind that this game is barely 2 weeks old. Itās not going to have the fully fleshed out systems of a 5, 10, or even 20 year old game.
Disclaimer: I am mostly PvE because my playtime is sporadic. PvE doesnāt suck so much as that the things I want to do are definitely going to be down the road because Iām leveling slow and watching the world go by instead of grinding my arse off until 60.
Best MMO PVP i have ever played by far. Tactical skill involved instead of button smashing skill-fiesta. Fights can end fast if one player is clearly better, but usually youāll have at least 30-60 seconds of intense fighting, while in best case Iām soaked into a fight for several minutes, because u can reaaaally use ur surroundings, like trees, brushes etc to hide. Crouching and especially laying down are great features to use in pvp combat.
I played ESO and GW2 PvP pretty actively and in my opinion NW has the best possible usage of environment and a smooth block/dodge system.
I dont see any reason why PVE and PVP players should be upset about each other in NW. When im flagged imma attack, if not i ignore everyone else
In my opinion the āpve vs pvpā - discussion/fight is single handedly lead by immature humans
They put in vet levels fairly quick and after reaching 50 you began those levels to reach VR 16. Dungeons were always a part of the game. Other than the initial level requirement you could run them all you wanted. Vet levels of dungeons were introduced with the vet system. 2016 the vet levels were replaced with Champion Points. We got Maelstrom Arena some time in 2015.
Most the stories were good and the voice acting was incredible. With One Tamriel overland became really easy but the stories were still compelling. If you were done before Wrothgar released you skipped most the content.
Why is the phrase āI still playā a hard fucking concept? Holy shit. No I didnāt miss most of the content. My ESO + sub is still active. I have finished most of the trials. Played through the story of every zone.
And all of this also has no bearing, we are specifically talking about end game content AT LAUNCH.
Of wich there was none. And the Vet system wasnāt added after launch, it was there at launch, but it was just an excuse to play the game again, just through a faction you didnāt pick.
It wasnāt until the champion points and the Craglorn trials that EDO had any real sort of end game content.
The vet system was always suppose to be a temporary thing. I did confuse the increase to vet level 16 from 10 with the introduction of vet levels. I think that is when we got vet instances of dungeons. Still you are making it sound like Vet 1 content is the same content you played at level 1. It wasnāt It was a different faction. Yes it was some other players level 1 but unless you were playing characters from every faction that content was new to you with new stories and new encounters.
ESO was released April 2014. Craglorn was released May 2014. My point was and is that end game arrived in ESO before the vast majority of players were through the base game content. Iām hoping the same happens in this game. The original concept much like New World was that PvP would be end game content. ESO ditched that early in development. Seems like new World has stayed with that PvP endgame idea.
I also still have ESO+ and have kept it since the game went to subscription base.
