Why does PvE suck so bad?

On the NA West, can you suggest any?

Ohhh, I know, I know, once you hit 50, you had to start over!

Then once you did it again, you had to start over again!

Then there was nothing. You were pretty much done at that point.

This from some one who loves ESO

Loved eso but I can’t even remember the end game aside from I think hard mode dungeons that weren’t really hard hard, some of the boss fights were okay but non of them stick out

I remember craglorn coming into play and that had end game content that felt like end game content and I remember at some point farming monsters sets

And the city in cryodil was actually a pretty fire content patch

sorry Eu Central

Craglorn, monster sets, and Imperial City were all content patches after the fact. None of those existed at launch

Because this game wasn’t meant to be PvE. It was solely focused on PVP but the whiners and criers begged for PvE because they sucked at PvP and hated getting ganked and losing fights.

The PvE got tacked on as a last second shift of direction in response to that constant whining and crying. That’s why it sucks.

Not really.

In ESO I leveled five toons well beyond Lvl 50 and 100’s of CPs. I loved trying the different skills in the classes and seeing how different builds worked out.

But even on those toons, I loved exploring all the content. Always seemed like somewhere I had not seen yet. And the expansions, etc. helped. I was doing it daily until NW went retail.

Sound like you were not really there for the journey but rushed to the end.

It’s almost like live server games get better and more content after launch

I feel like you just need to release the game at some point then you can target updates as to what activities players are wanting to see

I think a fairly decent example of this is guild wars 2

They release with a few dungeons, they all hard like hard modes (I think?) that were different but they were all kinda of dead content after you hit 80 because you could easily get the best armour you wanted fairly fast and it sort of eliminated the need for doing dungeons aside from getting enough tokens to buy the gift to get your legendary

Cool for you. No one is forcing you to play WoW. Still prefer their leveling system/quests for leveling over NW basic 3 for 90% of the quests with no story.

Cool for you, looked like it worked out better for me than you

I already pointed out the vision of PvP in NW by AGS and why it changed. Did you not fully read my post??

Why all this hate (comments like yours) between PvP and PvE players? Seems stupid.

You are quite wrong because you get them as leveling quests. Sorry but just because you call them “solo dungeons” doesn’t mean they aren’t part of the leveling/questing system. And plenty of scenarios don’t feel like a dungeon at all.

Now you are just reaching hard in white knighting for the questing system in NW. No vehicle quests aren’t all the same at all. You should probably branch out then and play other mmos because if you think all the vehicle ones are the same then you either have a short memory or never did them.

Just to add. Seems like the majority of us are all on the same page about how boring the quest system is for leveling here.

tbh I really dont mind them removing ganking system. I do not really equate that to being PvP. just a side thing. But people come from different game, so might be “Main pvp” in some games.

But what I want is a massive 50v50 deathmatch or 20v20 so companies can become super cordinated. Rather than a bunch of “backstab” and “who got higher gear score” kind of PvP…Which would be sad in a game that got these mechanics.

What the hell are you talking about? Are you high? We’re talking about at launch. If you’re talking CP’s then you’re already WAY past launch. CP’s were added in with a patch almost a year after the game came out. Before that, there were Veteran levels after 50. There was no end game. And no, I didn’t rush, I took my time, played through everything at launch, and I still play to this day.

I have played every major MMO in the last 25 years, but thanks for assuming what I have and haven’t done.

I am not trying to white knight anything. Sit in this vehicle and go kill stuff. Run around and go kill stuff. It is the same thing, just you are using vehicle abilities instead of your own.

Scenarios might be story driven, but they are still solo dungeons. A dungeon can still be a story element. I am saying that isn’t a quest. You get quests to go into dungeons, that doesn’t make normal dungeons not part of the leveling system. Now you are just trying to find random hairs to split to make yourself seem superior to me when I was agreeing with many of the things you had said.

Thanks for stopping by, take care.

Because it was.

The PvE was done just in the last year.

That’s why the open world just looks like the same map and the same NPCs on repeat, some of the towns are copy-paste jobs of each other, and there are only 6 dungeons - with the dungeon grind being to enter them rather than to run them.

Amazon realized, very late in the game, that there are almost no successful PvP MMOs. The only one that has done well is BDO, and people don’t “Play that”, they use VISA/Mastercard to win fights, and then mostly it’s a game about waifus…

The character models in New World are extremely far away from ‘Waifu’… they’re not even appealing from a simple aesthetic POV… and a US company making an MMO that was 90% about ‘female chest physics’ would just not fly in the modern world… so they couldn’t go that route - they had to bolt PvE on instead.

And they did what they could in 1 year.

Why so angry in your tone?

This is only a gaming forum.

I dunno about this take

I’ve actually been pretty impressed with the dungeons they slapped together and I’m looking forwards to seeing where they take them

I’m not angry, I’m just wondering why the person I’m replying to could be so incredibly wrong. The only plausible option I came up with was that he was possibly high…

Drugs are bad, M’Kay

I like the dungeons too. For slapping them in there in just 1 year they did a good job.

But that short slapped together nature just meant we didn’t have more of them - and the pipeline for running them is… wonky… The whole “grind a robotic soulless open world for an orb” in order to be able to enter the dungeons… feels like it was done because they meant for the open world to have more going on in it, but ran out of time so some manager in a meeting just said “paint all those unfinished spots with random lost and wolves and ship it”.

If PvE had been a focus for more than 1 year, we might have an open world that was more like those dungeons - with all sorts of varied content and quests that had more to them than “go get 25 rabbits”. We could have had open worlds like ESO and GW2…

(GW2 is NOT a good compare for dungeons though - they had almost a decade to do their PvE and their launch dungeons are famously bad).
