Why empty servers first?

Continuing the discussion from [Downtime] New World Update 1.0.2:

Why? Did they really think ppl are gonna just change to those servers? Please open the big ones first so the ppl that actually play get in. Thanks.

Empty server less data, full servers more data. I understand that people are frustrated that it takes 10 hours for a patch. But It isn’t as easy as just flipping a switch.

No. It’s easier.

ok then.

It wouldn’t be so bad if we got some decent contact from the Dev’s, but so far the communication to the player base has been poor going on terrible.

Thats understandable.

Unfortunately that’s mostly the case.

I loved in other games that they had many Moderators for Discord where you could ask how and why it’s going how it’s going.

Felt a lot more personal.

i dont think its as easy as “boo-hoo we have bad comms” i dont suppose its easy on the devs either, they have to deal with thousands of hate comments (most likely) going all around the internet fueled by a select group of sad internet denizens getting salty because they couldnt grind it out for 12 hours. So be a little bit more understanding when as why they’re not going around sending love notes to everyone while they’re trying to fix stuff up.

I’m not asking for a gold plated card every time they want to change the grass texture, and I understand that this game is new and there are going to be issues that need to be resolved and they will all be busy, however the original down time was estimated to be 5 hours, which we have long since passed, and the information that has been passed to the player base has been all but non existent except for a quick note saying that they will need to extend the maintenance on twitter.

with these updates expected to continue regularly over the coming weeks, it would be nice to get a little more contact from the Dev teams comms desk when delays like this happen.
