Why I won't recommend the game

They need to change how warding works, and then unlock mutations so every dungeon currently available can be played 1-10 difficulty, so people actually have something to do.

World tours are a stop gap to a lack of content.

Hmm. I do agree with most of what he said. Lot of transitioning and UI is quite terrible, and should have been cleaned up by now. It’s not urgent, but shows lazy development. What he/she said about war idk. My biggest gripe with the UI is the world map… Just let me click… Ffs… :slightly_smiling_face: (etc) Needs to be smoothed out.
(Ex: doing an ECR, and going to a wp where a party members is, its hard to click the wp if they are on it lol)

Also do get slightly tilted logging into the game with what feels like 40 menus. O.o

Don’t recommend it then. No one will lose sleep because of it.

Most of the stuff you posted is just personal opinion of what the game should be… ā€œplease, AGS, turn your unique game into a mix of my favorite gamesā€. Several are even just about the cosmetic appearance of the game, and several others just tiny details that don’t really impact gameplay at all.

Some of the points are even plain lies, like 10. no group finder from the second poster or 15. Dungeons are for the hardcore from the first poster.

This comes from a veteran gamer who has been playing video games for over 40 years now (adding this because the first poster seems to think that it matters).

This also sounds VERY suspicious ?

Why ? Because if it’s a legendary, not only it would be protected by the lock, but the game would also warn you that you’re about to destroy a powerful item.

@Korrigan you know what bud, happy holidays

Wtf, you really needed to copy-pasta all that into here?

Not bothering to wade through these multiple walls of text.

Bah humbug ya grinch, I put it in a drop down for you.

Well you can throw a locked item, sure… by accident? sure…
But you can see your throwed item and… just get it back :joy:

You guys asking for things like having a baby and sometimes wanting it to come with a shutdown/sleep button lol.

But w/e i know new world is not in a good spot not even for the next upcoming roadmap. So lets just have fun until next mmo comes.

10 is not a lie haha there’s no proper group finder for all sorts of content, just for expeditions. There’s legit been multiple forums about this just recently.
Also, cosmetic things matter to some people… again, which is why I won’t recommend the game to people who care about them.
And you say it’s just their opinion when they clearly stated it was just their opinion haha just because they wanted to put said opinion out there doesn’t mean it’s wrong or right. Read it, get whatever you get out of it, and move on… you can even disagree, but don’t try to discredit other peoples feedback just because you’re content with the bare minimum.

While I get the anxiety of accidentally throwing an important item on the ground while sorting through the mess of an inventory system NW gave us, (what fresh hell is this), there are serious issues requiring years of understanding and advancement, and this is simply not one of them.

I’d recommend wholeheartedly seeing it as the world telling you to slow down.
Be more mindful of what you are doing <3 At least this is the lesson I give myself
when I trip up anywhere in life.

If you had read my post about using umbral shards as a path to upgrade trophies you would see that ,indeed, I did not

If there was one thing that would keep me from recommeding the game it would be less about the login screen annoyance and more about the toxcitiy of some players.

In short, this game’s culture can be pretty hostile and non-inclsuive from a social quality of life perspective and it makes it hard for new players to stay on and for long-time players to keep playing. In solo games or games with friends, this is not an issue, but in an MMO, community is a significant component of why folks play.

Many people you encounter in Aeternum are great folks, but I have both seen and heard of behavior that ranges from discouraging to new players to openly hostile to everyone within ā€œearshotā€.

For example, a not insignificant number of players seem to amuse themselves by being toxic in public chats. I’ve seen this affect folks enjoyment of the game and lead to people stop playing altogether.

In world tours, some players race ahead and leave undergeared players behind to deal with and usually be slaughtered by trash, even skipping big chests in their mad rush to finish a speed race. Asking for folks to slow down and stay with the group just leads to a barrage of the first example.

A recent trend has been an uptick in the parade of people seeing how many arcane ways they can spell out their aspirations to various forms and scales of anatomies in their character names (they are forever, remember)… Nothing quite kills the mood like a flagged ā€œD33zNutzzzā€ running around talking trash.

I’d like to see the devs tackle some active and a number of passive efforts to disincentivize toxic and generally noxious behavior in game. Retention would almost certainly go up and conversion would, likely, as well…

Aww, thanks!

I mute toxic players. I think the issue is we have players from all age groups and walks of life… like minds attract like minds, just focus on who you connect with and don’t worry about the people you don’t <3

Totally agree with the muting and blocking as a way to handle some of it. But it takes time for players to build up antibodies to the vitriol and build a good block list.

Obviously, just like real life, there are different folks with all different backgrounds and views, and we all have to get along on some level or another. It’s not just politics or chest thumping, tho. Just last night, I saw comments that ranged from vulgar (ā€œthe line was back there just over that riseā€) to sexist (still out of line) to rude to bellyaching about "woke"sters, generation z, x, and boomers (sigh, eyeroll, wince, laugh, etc…) and of course, good ol’ factional trash talking. It wasn’t just one person, or just one topic, but just broadly a toxic morass of conversation that didn’t need to be happening in global chat and was driven by a small number of people. This kind of thing has been happening more, lately, and it’s disappointing to see.

I’m not saying my values are the right ones in deciding who to speak, or when, nor am I a thin-skinned nanny state kind of person either. I will speak up if folks step over the line within earshot and I will support folks who do so as well. But when I think of introducing new people to an MMO like New World, I can think of a number of friends who would find it fun but who would also find the level of public vitriol such a turnoff that they would probably stop playing.

Every game has a number of griefers, 12-year-olds who think naming your character after g3n1t4li4 and faartz is globally funny (I find farts funny, but I know not everyone does), and trolls – or every one I’ve ever played has. This one seems to have a lot more than usual - maybe the lower server populations make them stand out more? I am honestly not sure, but that was why I raised it as a thing that would make me more comfortable suggesting my friends – especially those who are non-white and/or non-male – to play, because there are just too many avenues for people to take what should be a fun experience and find ways further marginalize other players.

Seems a good time to wrap this topic up. Thank you to all those that have responded! You’re a great bunch of a people!

And what better way to close this out than with music to game with!
