In a player-driven economy you would think you wanted to protect the economy at all costs. But time and time again they either don’t seem to care, or they’ll just get to it at some point down the road.
It’s not hard to find them. I came back after 6 months, noticed a marketplace bot within a few hours of playing. Found out exactly who it was within another hour or so.
On CoS, his name is “keyhzcool”, he’s level 12, been at the marketplace in the exact same spot with DND mode on for about 4 days now.
There was already a post about this same thing in another server of a guy in the exact same spot. I would assume it’s happening in all servers.
So again HOW can AGS not realize that there are people in the game 24/7, impossible for a human, or do they just not care? Well considering we have been reporting these people in New World and through AGS, and they are still in there, just tells me they just don’t care enough.
The game was a flop, and it wasn’t because “there wasn’t enough content”, it was that the content wasn’t ready to be released. Too many people taking advantage of bugs left and right, winning wars with bugs, being invincible, moving at super speed.
AGS did too little too late for the bots back then and somehow they are still an issue just not as big.
But most importantly allowed duping for too long and didn’t do anything to the people taking advantage of the dupe. Then shut down the marketplace for like a month and no one could trade anything.
We knew in the open/closed beta that this wasn’t ready to be released with the constant bugs.
There’s a reason that half my server seems cool with bots. It’s because half the people left are all the cheaters that were able to cheat their way to the top.
Like most games now, they could ban IP’s for cheating. But even so, they ban the bots, they have to buy new copies, they ban them again, ect. As long as you have “red flags” in place you would be able to catch them before they actually made much gold and it wouldn’t be cost effective to keep buying copies for the botters.
If I sit at the market for like 5 minutes, I get the afk warning that I’m about to get kicked. They have something that doesn’t kick them. If AGS can’t do anything about it, they shouldn’t be creating an MMORPG. They should think about remaking Centipede.
It’s less the bots being the problem and ya they are a big problem, but they are trading with someone, who are those people? Remove those people and you remove the problem. I’ve never traded with a bot. They don’t interact with anyone. But what is their function. To gather goods and whatever money they collect while they gather has to go somewhere. Who’s the beneficiary? Track the trading, make trade tracking public. The solution will be resolved through a mass ban on a few greedy people.
Officially AGS does not allow bots. In dev video #2 they claimed to have banned over 9000 accounts. This is after months of bot complaints.
Sounds impressive, right?
But that number is actually laughable. Botters and RMT bounce right back really fast in every game. They just get another account. They make enough money to waste them like water. Just look at how many MIR4 bans – over 9000 in just a couple of weeks. And more account bans have been issued than people have played New World.
Sadly ASG only have this kicked system if your character stand still for 15-20min or so, even if you fishing is happens.
Auto-bots running will not effect them by kick system.
This is funny statement since every MMORPG is filled with bots. NW has very little bots in comparison to other MMOs, thats just a fact. Another fact is that botters ALWAYS find a way. Find a reliable way of how to get rid of bots forever (without financially ruining yourself) and I guarantee you every company will try to hire you
The only way to eliminate bots is eliminating demand = customers who participate in RMT. But how?
Bless Unleashed had a solution, but it really hurt the social aspect of the game for legitimate players.
Basically, there was ZERO inter-player trade. It was not possible to trade or mail or otherwise transfer any item or currency except by selling it on the trading post.
So for RMT, the buyer had to list a trash item for like 1 million currency units and the seller bought that item.
Everyone knew it was happening because the trading post shows recent sale prices. You can see hundreds of people trying to sell some lousy mat for 100 units and somehow the last sale was for 1 million units of game currency.
So obviously the Bless Unleased devs also knew who was probably involved in RMT because everything was logged.
Of course there might be some legitimate non-RMT cases since that was also the only way players could trade with their friends, but with that kind of currency moving, it was more likely RMT than not.
And despite this obvious tracking, there was RMT. Crazy amounts of advertising in-game. It didn’t help that Bless Unleashed launched as free-to-play of course.
But the effect on the game was terrible. You couldn’t help anyone specifically by giving them an item. And every attempt to do so cost you.
Yeah, like Black Desert. Yet, BDO has a huge RMT market. They take care of Bots really well tho. But people provide tons of service, like farming Silver. And they can’t Ban you for it cuz they have 0 proof. Unless you make a mistake. Practically a requirement to rent a Pinoy farmer now in BDO…
Yeah, Devs can track transactions. But they want to make automated systems to save money, hence why Bots in NW and Lost Ark keep coming back. Because they adapt to the anti-bot algorithms that AGS implement.
And with Heavy Pay to progress cuz the Crafting was a broken mess with huge potential and dungeons required high gear… so Bot easily fulfill the demand. Then they left when people left, when people reached endgame.
I did play BU. It has been filled with RMX since the beginning. Global chat filled with coin offers all the time. None of what developers did helped, at all.
Don’t take Bless Unleashed as a refference of how to fight bots
I really think its impossible to have bot free MMORPG without drastic measures which also badly hurt legit players.
Yes.
My point is that even with a lot of measures in place from the very start, RMT is a huge problem.
So compare other games to NW where AGS has barely done anything and you start to realize just how bad the problem really is. BU never enjoyed the player counts that NW had and they were flooded with RMT.
RMT and botting in NW is worse than probably what people think.
Amazing that the devs in video 2 are so proud to say they banned 9000 accounts.
Only 9000? Really? And what have they really done since?
Cause the game is trash and the developers dont give a shit about the players LOL
I just logged on to see if there was any copium left, but game seems to be dead already. Most of the hardcore fanboys who were defending the devs early on are gone rofl
If I compare NW to other MMOs its just like anywhere else. Not better, not worse. The exception is Lost Ark, bots are rampant there. AGS is doing something, constantly, I reported many bots myself, 80% of them were gone in few days. Not being vocal about banning bots doesn’t mean they are not doing anything.
Sure, but I have seen changes to the game that make me suspect they are not actively banning but trying to take other time-saving measures.
E.g., Starmetal nodes at South Vega bridge.
There were several bots running the route on my server. After an update, bots were gone, but so were almost all the nodes. No reason for them to be there when there aren’t enough nodes! So not necessarily banned because they may have just moved away.
Meanwhile, the lack of nodes hurts legitimate players.
