Why is ruby gem not giving me extra damage against Angry Earth?

I put ruby gem on my hatchet for a perfect 100 slash / 100 fire damage split. This should mean I get a 20% boost to slash damage and 30% boost to fire damage. However, My fire damage is coming out lower than my slash damage.

One angry earth enemy in the open world I was testing on was giving me 1123 slash / 1118 fire damage numbers. And when I switched to the exact same hatchet without a gem, I was getting a total of 2300 slash damage. So I’m actually losing out on damage using a ruby gem even though angry earth should have 10% more weakness to fire damage (remember with gem I am showing 100 slash and 100 fire on the same weapon).

I know they removed enemies being strong against certain weapons but did they reduce some of their weakness too?

I also would like to know

Damn, that makes sense now, ty. Ive been running rubies in gen forever and I felt like I was always getting extra fire damage, but I guess I just never was paying that much attention (or I was looking on a boss that had armor so elemental damage did more).

On weapons that ready have advantage against an enemy type its best to leave their pure dmg alone. Slot an emerald or an opal.

For dungeons where your damage is resisted, like slash on m1 ancients, then a topaz lightning dmg will be a more viable solution.

you shold never use ruby for genesis, diamond is the best gem for slash.

Well I know that now. But I was thinking I had a 10% constant damage buff with fire, why wouldnt I have taken that?
