Why is the Ice gauntlet Ice Shower not being addressed?

I love new world PVP and we seem to be getting to a place where there is a good balance. The only ability I truly can’t wrap my head around is Ice shower

The base ability ice shower lasts for 4 seconds and can be extended with Enduring shower - for a total duration of 7 seconds - This is very strong and as a stand alone seems fair

Frost bite - Roots player for 1 second, blocking sprits and dodging and slowing movement speed by 50% + remaining on player for 3 seconds after leaving the shower. Another point can be put into - Frigid shower applying a 10% rend

How is this balanced when you are slowed + rended while trying to leave ice shower and when you get out you still cant dodge for an additional 3 seconds

Please make this a 1 second root and 3 seconds of not being able to dodge flat.
Not 3 seconds after leaving the shower while slowed by 50%

You can dodge and use abilities to get out Gravity Well. The only CC in the game that completely locks you down is Ice Shower.

when a mage is near u, which is allready a huge problem for him, it’s kinda obv he uses ice shower ?

You can’t dodge in gravity well. You can use abilities to escape ice shower. This is fake news.

My argument is to Equalize the duration to similar cc ability’s.

Gravwell is 3 Seconds Flat.

Shower is 1 second root + 3 seconds of not being able to dodge starting After you leave the shower.

1 sec root, is not really a thing.
i agree u cant dodge for 3 sec, just use a dash, hold ur block or use other skills in that time…
like every experienced player does

But is ever root, stun, stagger followed up by something? Isn’t that the point?

It does root you for 1 sec, then you can root for an additional 1 sec + the heavy slow + not dodging for 3 sec after.

All of that is fine except for the not being able to dodge for 3 sec imo. Although I think it would also be fine if it were a flat 1 sec root and 3 sec not being able to dodge from the moment you get rooted. Instead of after you are finally able to leave

Make Ice shower duration to scale with INT, so we don’t have GA/IG abusers anymore. That’s it, mages are gonna stay happy and everyone gonna be happy.
I rarely die to an mage Ice Shower after the Ice Spike nerf, even using light armor. But boy do I do die to gravity well + IG combo A LOT!
if they get rid of this combo, they can leave both skills the same because even tho they’re so much powerful alone, the game breaker combo isn’t going to exist anymore

If that was a real problem for a mage, they wouldn’t come closer by themself as often :sweat_smile:

So don’t hop into it? You can’t throw away ice shower or it doesn’t pulls you like a gravity well, just a curved line. In addition it’s hard to catch a player with it so it should be rewarding

MMM that’s not true in most people’s experience I think. I can’t even actually remember the last time I saw a mage in medium on my server.

Hopping into it isnt nearly the only way it gets applied. There are so many animations you can use to your advantage when figuring out when to cast ice shower, not that that’s a problem.

Frostbite is just either overtuned or part of it should be applied differently

I’m the one of them(medium armor mage) It’s fun to engage a close combat with flamethrower. Not rewarding but still fun

I’m sorry but “just dodge” or “don’t hop into it” or “git gud” are completely ridiculous arguments. In a purely 1v1 situation then yes those can be applied. Because it’s extremely easy to avoid those abilities. But In opr and wars it’s a completely different story. 90 percent of the time you get caught in a grav well or ice shower from behind when you are fighting on point. And someone or a group flanks you and hits you from behind with a grav well and then mages run up and ice shower you. You literally can’t move for 10 seconds hoping your healer can keep
You up. This happens to everyone, anyone who says otherwise is a lair or a musket user. or mage player sitting in the back padding their stats with dps and just run away when someone challenges them. Grav well is a AOE CC ABILITY that also hits like a truck. It’s completely ridiculous to sit there and say that’s a balanced ability. There is a reason why literally everyone that uses great axe runs grav well. The ability pulls, roots, does big damage, gives fortify, prevents the use of dodging etc. it’s just so much better than most abilities in the game. Now on top of that now more and more and more Ga users are running ice gauntlet. If they catch a player or multiple players they can easily swap to ig and shower them and they can’t move for almost 10 seconds. It’s instant death. People say USE A MOVEMENT ABILITY TO GET OUT. Well Sherlock thanks I never thought of that. Half the freaking time you leap out just to be teleported back in even after the root duration ended. Ice shower prevents you from dodging for 6 seconds when traited, 6 seconds you are walking around with bricks in your pants just praying a healer can sustain you through the dps. And none of these great axe and IG Simps seem to ever take into consideration the desync around both these abilities either. It’s just so irritating. Like wake up. Sure it’s gotten some what better but it’s still super laggy and lots de sync and seems to be getting worse each day. I don’t know how many times I see a grav well coming at me and I dodge twice and start running and then Poof I’m back in the center of it getting wacked. Same with ice shower. The other night got caught in one, waited till the root ended started walking like a crab used my sword leap and walked a few steps and rubber banded back into the ice shower. Just dodge is not a valid argument. I do dodge, ever since 1.4.1 I get hit mid dodge roll all the damn time. Almost as if my screen is delayed by a second, so what I see happening on my screen already happened on the server a split second ago. so I get staggered or rooted while I’m iframe but the server thinks I got rooted before I dodged and it knocks me out of my roll or I teleport back to where my dodge started and get rooted in the grav well . It’s just a mess, I wish people were just honest about how strong certain abilities are and how bad the desync still is.
