So you are saying people only get hit with gravity well if they suck or are out of stamina in 1vs1? Ok then my reply is: If you can’t hit somene can’t land gravity well in 1vs1 they must have terrible reaction time, tactics, build or they have a broken gravity well button.
Ice Shower is ALOT harder to hit 1vs1 due to the nature of the ability.
But when did this turn into a 1vs1 discussion? 1vs1 is not a competetive form of game play in New World.
Sure I understand your argument, but what about the nerfing into the ground that VG scream got? The scream was much less of a problem and nerfed, now it’s completely useless. If ice shower was in a good place we wouldn’t be seeing it put onto every other build type. The combination of root, slow and rend with the HUGE amount of time it’s applied is insane and needs to be reworked or nerfed to 0.5 root as well and effects to 2s max with armor perks.
But once again it’s strange that there discussions about Ice Shower when Gravity Well is a much stronger ability and the cause of people ending up with a Ice Shower over them. It’s also used more then Ice Shower and have been so since the launch.
They are compared as ice shower cc is much stronger and with another cc to set up it is ez to land. Some times cc is not even need when against melee as doing the spin trick to have it come out faster is hard to dodge.
Gravity Well is much, much stronger. Compare the details with the two abilities and if you still claim Ice Shower is stronger there is no point in discussing further.
Spinning while casting Ice Shower wont make it faster even tho it might look like it does. It also leaves gaps in the ice shower.
And Ice Shower works on static targets, and same rule applies, you can get out of it with a skill.
But oh wait, they got there because of a GW and nobody talks about that, but about the only worthy skill that the IG has at the moment, because you got the Storm nerfed, even when we don’t get diminishing CCs when you monkeyspam them, but mages can’t do the same due melee outcry. IceSpike got nerfed as well, because heavy bruisers didn’t felt like getting killed by mages.
Now is the IceShower turn, alright then, enjoy your CC fest, we are done with this.
No BiS Gear for mages.
No stackable AoEs.
No IceSpike.
No Scream.
No more shower.
Let’s just remove the 3 magical weapons and move to the next-to-be-nerfed, the obvious Spear that has plenty of adepts that can stand a decent chance vs heavy spam monkeys.
The real problem with ice gauntlet abilities is that any class can use it, when used by the correct build it isn’t overly powerful. I am an ice/void debuff mage, and I have 0 movement abilities, this and my entomb are all I have to escape with. Putting some requirement in terms of attributes for it to be fully effective would be ideal. Void gauntlet has some abilities that don’t work properly without focus, why not make the abilities like entomb and ice shower scale off of int? Lower int means little to no effect, while higher int means your tomb is more effective, and your slow lasts longer.
I can say from the maramma server from 2130-0230 there is nothing but ig/vg sds/ig fs/ig bb/ig ga/ig wh/ig and a handful of musket players with a sprinkling in of the good ol ga/wh I am a healer I know when most of my team is running 5 con. Also the entire opr screen looks like a blizzard most the time so…
The ice shower is oubviously absolutely unbalanced and noobs calling like “a mage in close combat is catchable” is a bullshit argument.
The ice shower is so overpowered that a lot of mages (particulary in war) can play ice gaun in heavy armor. The argument of the squishy mage is gone.
People saying u cant dodge gravity are wrong. People saying u cant escape from gravity are wrong too. Just facts.
The ice shower is the easiest way to assure kill in grouped PvP. People traped in this control have no way to escape from instant death. Even if u miss it, it puts a “no-go zone”.
The ice shower needs to be balanced with the other similar spell. It needs a nerf, fast.
As somebody who is in tons of wars, ice showers aren’t the problem most of the time. Grav wells are 10x more likely to f you up. Ice shower does need a change, but I don’t think the change needs to be the actual function of the ability. As an ice/void mage, I have 0 mobility and rely on dodging and entomb/shower to survive, if you make that obsolete nobody will use ice anymore. Ice gauntlet is already underpowered in terms of damage, just making the ice gauntlet CC abilities scale off of int should resolve the issue of people using it with non int weapons.
