I never said violations shouldn’t be reported. Especially on all public channels, it should be. Very much so.
My opinion, and of course that’s all I’m giving, in private, conditionally, less so. Reporting a word that was sent in private, but would have been blocked by the filter, means that person made a conscious choice to disable the filter that would have kept them from seeing it in the first place, thus allowing that word to exist on their screen. Report invalid. It would be case by case, and reviewed by a person to make that choice still, but… tools are there.
More people could use them rather than wasting time for amazon employees which likely see so many of those reports they don’t have time to think, let alone always make the correct choice. Increasing mistakes.
Of course, it is Amazon’s final judgement that matters in all things New World, it’s rules, and policies that matters. Just a discussion, they can take as feedback if they’d like.
I’ve seen those same “many people”. Many people should mind what they say in public. That’s pretty much true outside of the game as well. Everyone has their own story and a person can’t know them all. Also, can’t know the results of those stories and what may be commonly meant as harmless banter, could, truly, be deeply hurtful and upsetting. I know people on both sides, those nothing offends, and those many things offend. At no time am I suggesting anyone shouldn’t be hurt by, or offended by, the things that hurt or offend them. That’s them. I am saying the tools are there, and they could make use of them rather than overload an already overloaded system and perhaps even save themselves some hurt and offence in the process.
Rather enjoying the discussion with you for that matter.
Thank you for the time you’ve spent on it with me.
Curious does chat filter show partial message and just like replace words with say *s?
If it does then regardless of chat filter if you received a private message from someone saying **** you, ******* trash, etc I’d think people should still be supported in reporting regardless if you don’t know what was actually said.
Also, some people are fine seeing inappropriate words in general when they aren’t utilized in a hostile form. Obviously I’m using examples and with it’s subjective nature it’s hard to define things without proper context.
I guess I just have faith that Amazon will be able to see the context and violations in their review and make the appropriate choice.
Actually, I’m not sure. I disabled mine in beta and the setting has carried over since. May test to find out just for the sake of it. I’d agree. Report and mute is a fine action to use. Just actually USE the mute and don’t keep baiting with replies so you can report over and over again. That’s where it becomes abuse of the system, IMO.
Many won’t use those tools with the intent to attack others by using the reporting system. That’s where it enters grey areas that I feel sorry for Amazon having to deal with and have a difficult time deciding on. Intent is hard to determine by a 3rd or 4th party. I also feel sorry for anyone baited and trapped by those people and punished without the other side being punished as well. They did wrong, even baited, so punish, by all means, but include the one who was themselves instigating it intentionally using the reporting system to attack them.
Again, just my opinion.
I’m off for the night. Take care.
Yeah, the faith is the hard part for people. After all, they are only human.
As an update it does filter as you show. That’s unfortunate. I’ve long thought and suggested the entirety of the message should be blocked on a filter trigger and say something like, “This message is not displayed due to filter settings.”
I guess I will make that suggestion to AGS as well.
Good point, i should have read it. Either way, it is clear whose game it is in ToS…and you accepted to even play. These terms are of ownership are universal for all games.
just to chime in New World is Rated PEGI 16. This rating is applied once the depiction of violence (or sexual activity) reaches a stage that looks the same as would be expected in real life. The use of bad language in games with a PEGI 16 rating can be more extreme, while the use of tobacco, alcohol or illegal drugs can also be present.
Please you can submit an appeal if that is the case, It would depend in what context the name was made but keep in mind the forums are not the place for discussing penalties
