Hellou there fellow developers, i was just wondering why word Depressed is locked in the main global chat? like i dont understand the point. By the institute of Cambridge most gamers are to open ingame about their problem and depression and they cant even say they are depressed couze people do not see it hm… i somehow don`t see it to be hazard word.
Ps: Community i will gladly take opinions but if you gonna just trash talk leave the insult to yourself

Maybe because they feel it would be a trigger to some people trying to escape into a fantasy world but you’re reminding them of their irl problems?

Well, depression among youth (not saying older people can’t be depressed) is becoming more and more of an actual problem… High standards everywhere due to social media, television,… has probably never neen as high as it is today…
And there are many trolls in the internet pretending to be something they’re not, such as being depressed… And if someone who is legit feeling depressed plays this game to try and get out of it, these trolls wouldnt be helpful I guess…
In the end, this is a game. This should be a fun place and there’s enough bad influences in other parts of the internet already…

But to the OP I agree that this is silly.
However, you have to be careful. I’ve been open about being Autistic, because I know I come across a bit brash and weird in chat (in person I’m liked by most people more than I like myself!) - and as a consequence I was bullied for it, also told I was using it as an excuse etc, which is not the case. Some people simply have no empathy, like the first response to your thread. There are a lot of toxic, nasty individuals out there so you have to be careful.
I hope you’re doing ok. I used to have major depression, got out of it. Recently slipped back into a little bit of depression due to it being winter here and loss of job. Things can and will get better!
