Seriously, why is the most efficient way to increase your watermark killing the same level 64 elite mob that respawns in the exact same place every 2 minutes for a period of 30+ hours? It’s silly how the endgame content that keeps you actively engaged (Outpost rush, Wars, Invasions, portal clearing, open world pvp) give practically 0 watermark upgrades. People have opened 100 Outpost Rush crates and received less than 5 upgrades in total.
I can’t wrap my head around why they designed it this way
I like the watermark system.
I have only run with a group once to kill elites, what i do is run solo and pick up all the elite chests in Shattered Mountains and Reekwater on my own.
I find that fun, about 1 week in, and my head and my gloves are at 537 now, the rest is abit lower.
But i feel excited about running around seeing if an item of a higher GS drops.
And when i got CDs on the Elite Chests, i farm mats to upgrade my proffesions which btw takes FOREVER, which is also a system i enjoy, because that means when i focuz all my effort on levling Armoring then that basicly becomes my main proffesion up to the point that i am able to level another proffesion.
I only spend 2-3 hours GS farming, and doing it with group or zergs at level 64 above maps only, its fun that way, I don’t do that elite loops since that bores me, sometimes I do solo run when I am bored and want some practice sneaking
Repeat that until weapons (which take longer than armour) is 600 then do it all over again every single time a new weapon comes out, then find out when they release new content that you are going to have to do it again for everything because they raised the cap to 700. Watermarking is a game design choice to increase replayability when there is no/not much real endgame content which is the case here. It gives devs time to make other content the problem is it becomes way to repetitive over time and it is not fun to those of us who know where this will lead in the future (hopefully they drop this model), on top of that this is the most grindy watermark system as each slot has its own individual score instead of just 1 overall score like destiny 2 for example.
I hope in the future this is never repeated but gear is dropped at the level it should drop based on the content not locked behind a time gate to force people to do things they do not want to so they can do the things they do want to, games are meant to be fun.
Somewhere along the line it just became about how much can we get people addicted and how much money can we squeeze out of them now they are addicted (not specifically talking about New World on the last comment although still probably somewhat true, they are a business after all)
Imo that is fair, i appriciate the new reason to farm once i hit my markers, then getting a new weapon to farm doesn’t sound ludacris.
Also there is crafting for those that don’t wanna spend their time farming the watermarks.
All MMOs are really grindy to begin with, i am just glad we don’t have daily quests that NEEDS to be taken down to be able to do anything ingame.
I think it should be we extensively discussed… When they update the cap from 600-700, or bring new weapons will be late and nobody will use such releases as they release. In the other side, new players will be always benefited by this once we are being to cap all our GS now. Is it fair for both? No way. Lets discuss about it more, please.
