The number of posts regarding this topic is staggering. What’s more is everyone has difficulty holding themselves to an unbiased standard. Instead they cling to a different approach. The: Why Isn’t Mine Powerful
The WIMP can come in many forms but often will post things like buffing 1 particular weapon. This is the easiest to identify as they throw tact completely to the wayside as compared to their subtle WIMP counterpart. The:
Why Isnt Mine More Powerful
than Yours
The WIMMPY will often post about other weapons being too powerful, often picking on one particular weapon to nerf. This makes them think that they are staying clandestined from their true motive which is often complete and unearned pvp supremacy because the moment the devs post an update and see that in fact that there has been a nerf on the weapon they posted should be nerfed, they will pick on another weapon that is obviously not theirs. (A hint for the WIMMPY don’t pick a heavy armor avatar when you demand a light armor nerf)
Yes the WIMMPY is truly the worst of the two.
There is a dark horse though the:

The LOSER can pop up at any time and comes and goes in a flash. Often with little to no original thoughts of their own they prefer to use emotes like or a version there of. They also like to use pictures to help they convey an underdeveloped thought. Anyone can have lapses of being a LOSER you just need a go get em attitude and often hit report the first chance you get when dealt with the slightest level of opposition.
So how do we avoid being the WIMP or a WIMMPY LOSER
If your going to talk about nerfs and buffs be all inclusive in your post and responses. Consider if the weapon your considering posting about fits in the a combat hierarchy circuit much like that of rock paper scissors. Are you trying to make adamantium scissors or a red hot rock or single ply graphene paper to get an edge on the competition. If so your being a WIMP the best way to address this is to simply post with a format that includes all weapons and how they interact with each other and compare the strengths and weaknesses. And excluding the expertise system from the argument is a good start. (Does the nominal values of a weapon or armor stat compare closely to another weapon or armor and how so.)
What? I like want to agree with some of this post because I agree that very few players are impartial enough to actually assess weapon balance well (myself included). It’s also why you can simultaneously have a post asking for a buff and nerf of every weapon in the game on the forums at any given time. But this post seems more like it intends to be more inflammatory then helpful.
Its more to help people identify and have in the back of their minds what kind of post is being generated and the types of responses and maybe just maybe put a thought bubble into peoples heads before they simply say without any facts to back up the claim that x weapon is OP. Are they going to be called out using the acronyms? I would hope people would question their response before pressing enter but I would wish that moderators would identify with this post as a means to help other players dismiss merritless and malicious reports against responses that directly call people out for flooding the forums with nonsensical banter. As well as help moderators identify and give cause to neglect the attention that a WIMP or WIMMPY post may try to gain as being easily digestible clout. I dont have anything against nerf or buff posts if they have a well designed structure that addresses as a whole whether an item should be changed if its impact is absolutely weak or strong against the magority of weapons but am whole heartedly against a nerf or buff post if its simply motivated by say a big weapon should beat every other weapon and everyone that says otherwise is just wrong. Unfortunately. Posts like that are easy to run and gun for users because at the moment posts are taken more seriously based on the number of responses as opposed to the quality of the responses. And for this I do encourage either a user to ignore, vote against to nulify the content or perhaps refer to this page and let the OP consider their motives.
I took great effort in making this post as equal opportunity as possible to consider even my own responses as even I have to admit that I can be a LOSER when I say in retort, "no nerf (opposing nerf weapon that is obviously what the OP/respondant is using) Im not saying its right but unless the forum moderators directly adress this issue, this is the best way people can defend against this pervasive attack on the weapons and the progression of the game in projects that they are currently working on being pushed aside and hindered by the nerf this nerf that posts.
This is as old as the hills. I have been PvPing in MMOs since the '90s and it’s always “nerf whatever killed me!” and it will still be that way 20 years from now.
