Why New World is failing

Let me prelude my statement below with this. “Increasing XP is NOT THE WAY to fix this game”.

This game has potential because of the way it is setup. The fact someone can get level 60 in 2 days is ridiculous. What SHOULD have happened in the beginning is the XP on EVERYTHING should have been extremely slower. Why? So, people would have had more to do, and crafting would have actually meant something. Let me explain.

Imagine a “new world” where you actually spent time at levels that were sub-60.

You needed to grind out the best level 25 gear (first dungeon checkpoint) and you grinded in Deadman’s Cove (Level 25 elite zone) to get good drops for the 20-29 PvP brackets, Arenas and OPRs. The other option would be to farm the materials for lower level “BiS” gear. Fae iron, void metal, etc… Whatever it is at the particular level. To make the better gear for your bracket. This would give a ton more content to the game. Deadman’s Cove for example is only used to level weapons. Not for level 25 players to get gear. The “Elite Chests” in these type of zones are worthless. Brightwood Isle, Stone Skull Fort, Periville, Scorpius. All these zones are WORTHLESS because you dont spend enough time in the level for it to matter.

With the Arenas now having brackets this also gives more incentive to stay a lower levels because you have PvP that you can actually do. However in the current time it takes to level up it will be hard to find people to fight at these levels. Slow XP wayyyy down and you will see more people in the levels. Arenas is the first step for this setup.

Now the problem is with the current servers, you cant do this. Too many people at max level, max expertise, beyond gold cap (creating their own company to hold their money).

So, another BIG reason this game is failing in its current state is NEW players, when they hit 60 are screwed for multiple reasons.

  1. These “MEGA” companies that have 4 different companies pushing territories to slot the same 50 people in the war, doesn’t allow new players to get this experience. To fix this you need to put at LEAST a 7-day cooldown on joining a company, make wars FACTION only (no more purples fighting for greens against the yellows etc…), then make a requirement of 30 of the 50 roster slots be company only (the other 20 will need to be filled by other companies within your faction). Doing this will have people not only have to have relationships within the faction, but also build up their OWN company.

  2. Chest runs (world tours, zergs, whatever you wanna call it) need to STOP. These zones were not meant to be ran this way. Allow for up to 15 players to be in a group and take a max of 3 groups in an instanced zone for these type of areas). Place a boss infront of every supply chest or elite chest and Require it to be killed before you can loot it. This will actually give you more expertise bumps anyways because you will get credit for the boss and have more drops.

  3. The players who are at 625 need to understand they by not helping others run dungeons you are killing the game. A fresh 60 who needs to run laz, tempest, and gen to get their expertise up needs PEOPLE to run these. I’ve seen so many times people posting in recruitment trying to fill a group for these dungeons and spend hours trying. Take 30 mins out of your day and help them. I have made the point to. Otherwise, they will just quit and you lose the opportunity to grow the game.

These are just a few reasons and of course there is a lot more.

Before you all try to attack me, I am a maxed out 625 player with multiple builds that wars every night and has no trouble getting into multiple wars. I do help players out by running dungeons to help them get expertise. I have tried to improve this game for the better. But it takes more than 1 person.

tldr, Stop being selfish and help others.

Agree with the 3 points but for a lot of what you said the ship has sailed. Doesn’t help to say how things should have been, they have to focus on the best way to salvage it now.

I like what you are saying about being a helpful positive member of the community. Fresh 60’s don’t get into many expeditions on el dorado 90% of the recruitments want 600+ GS players for speed runs only. Totally disagree about slow leveling and all of those low level elite zones had lots of at level players when the game was new and there were people actually leveling through the content. I spent 20 total hours que’d for level 20 bracket arena’s with zero happening. I spent another 12 hours in the que for 30’s bracket with once again none happening and this is on el dorade the highest pop west coast server. I just hit 40 today and can let you know how that bracket pans out. On a side note I’ve been flagged since 10th level I never turn it off been in one fight that wasn’t against a level 60 and only 6 total open world fights overall.

Making an MMORPG slower-paced is literally never the answer. Having a robust endgame with repeatable, engaging, rewarding content is.

Based on what you’ve written, you play a lot. You are not a casual, nor casual-adjacent, player. Online games survive on their casual populations. People left because it was brutally tedious (among many, many other reasons), not because it wasn’t tedious enough.

People only play for endgame, and if that endgame is completely shut down because of a tax system that stops other people from ever doing anything, the game is dead. It’s incredibly simple. If endgame is a big war then gear shouldn’t be so hard to get. It should be strategy vs strategy not strategy vs gear

But you won’t, though. And the reason is simple, make leveling take longer, and most folks will just up and leave the game, rather than continue.

If you want to have folks playing low level characters, then:

  1. Best option, have a check box in the GUI, so a player can choose to remain at a given level, and just turn off XP gain, until they want to advance again, then they just uncheck the XP block check box, and continue onwards and upwards.
  2. Let players have more than one measly character, so they could both race to 60th level with some of their characters, while ‘going slow’ with other characters, and taking time to ‘smell the flowers’ as it were.
  3. Give players these options, and your ideas have merit, try to force folks to level even slower, and you’ll have no one left to play with at all.

They can join the company I am in (at least on my server), we run dungeons with lower levels and fresh 60s all the time to get the guys up to speed.
