Yes, and what you do makes the game not fun for 39 other people who you are making run around the map doing nothing. Go chop trees, kill wolves, and cap forts in open world if that’s the gameplay you want. There is also arena if you want this small skirmish play style.
We have had it your way long enough and no one thinks it’s fun.
Range weapons will not be as much as a problem if they don’t have infinite space and points they can go to. One of the core problems now is ranged builds can just run away and go for a point no one is at.
This is largely because you have people who run random back cap 1vX cheese live lord builds a build who only go for points that are 500 meters away from everyone and waste everyone’s time delaying losses and making people run around instead of fighting.
You already outed yourself as a back cap PVE enjoyer which means basically all feedback from there can be safely ignored.
If the only point up for grabs is mid ranged has to actually get inside the fort to clear the people in there instead of just running for the back cap and setting up in there.
Won’t be able to break tents and respawns over walls either.
You think most of the ranged in opr would go in there even with that change? Nope. They’re going to sit outside and shoot at each other through the doors for the most part.
I know it might be a shocker to you, but people join the 20v20 game mode for larger 20v20 fights. They don’t join to chase after some trackstar 500 meters away or to fight some neck beard who queues 20v20 in a 1v1 duel build to isolate people into fights to boost their ego lmao.
I think they should be free to do that if they want to just look for 1vXs in OPR for whatever reason, but the game mode shouldn’t reward them as much as it does.
Yeah I actually agree with most of your points. Side note, the back-capping playstyle was a direct response to pre-mades (and to a lesser degree, the ranged meta). I can rack up 20-40 kills if I want to zergball, or I can get 10-20 kills solo while destroying the opponents fort and back-capping. Back-capping is actually loads of fun, where else do you get 1v2’s 1v3’s up to 1 v 10’s (lol)? Backcapping is currently the most effective counter to pre-mades. It forces them to split up at least some of their zerg. WIthout backcappers, pre-mades would basically never lose.
You are essentially banking that they are too lazy to mount a sustained defense, and you will eventually take 2/3 forts (your home fort plus their home fort). Then you win a Baron or two, and you’ve defeated the pre-made. I can get more kills by zergballing, but I can win more OPR’s by backcapping. It also gives me nonstop 1 V X fights, which I love.
I’d be onboard with your proposed rules if the teams were actually balanced (ELO/matchmaking/cross server etc). But as is now, its the only way to even possibly beat pre-made groups.
