yeah do we have a reason for this? people get really tired of hearing that their gear is getting “bug fixed” when it is really just getting nerfed for no reason.
Shirking Element - from unique and mid to totally inferior attunement
I think it might be because bruisers were dodging in melee combat, procing the shirking then tapping everyone with massive slaps after the dodge over and over again
Shirking element on axe is not a thing. High level players dont run that.
On the hammer for just your abilities? Sure it was strong. Any perk should have a situation where it shines. Was it brokenly strong? No.
Now shirking element has no situation where it shines. It is literally a bait where you think you got chain (highest damage in cleave even with old shirking) and then get dissappinted to see its shirking.
Now, if you attack even twice in between dodges (everyone does this and you dont have the stamina to do otherwise outside of maybe spear) you are worse off than attunement. Bad change for no real reason
Our bugfixing team is pretty clueless as to how thier fixes (or lack thereof) effects people’s builds/gear/the meta. Feels like they don’t even talk to the balancing team even though both teams nerf/buff perks abilities and gear all the time. It’s been leading to some pretty shit meta changes where builds are getting double nerfed/double buffed from two different departments.
As for shirking element, they probably just saw it as an inconsistency and made it single proc like chain and attune even though the AOE aspect is what made it interesting in the first place.
Do the “bug fix” teams communicate with the balancing team when they are applying these changes?
Shirking element is already a fairly dead perk. If there is a bug that needs fixing, it really needs to provide some sort of value as well because as it stands, chain and attunement are better perks in all scenarios.
Even if i am dodging and getting a shirking buff for every attack, it is less damage because i simply run out of stam.
Even then, dodging into each attack is a dps loss because you spend so much extra time dodging instead of attacking.
They need to work in tandem because the pace for addressing balancing issues is just…awful.
We need this addressed now with this “bug fix” so these perks dont sit dead for months. Buff the perk so it is usefull. Make it have 3 charges, make it just hit aoe. Something
Shirking element is a salvage perk with this change and is a very common roll too.
